Planning in the USA: Policies, Issues, and Processes

Good planning text with appropriate detail
This is not a cursury review of the subject, nor does it drag on monotonously. This is a solid textbook for an individual desiring to learn about the planning profession and process in the U.S.A.

Ok as an intro, but needs to be paired with better background
I got this book for a class, and I have to say this book is vague and confusingly written as an introduction to the material. It seems to go on random tangents and bring in topics without enough background to find them useful. It's a long book, and it covers a lot of good material, but you have to wade through a lot of only fair to middling coverage to get there

Poor organization and sentence structure.
There is useful information here but it’s poorly organized. The author either confuses you or boreds you to death before getting to the most critical information. I find myself re-reading because of odd or long sentences. I suggest foot notes for additional comments. The language is ackward and not very accessible. The language should be simple, the definitions clear, followed by compact historical and political context followed by impacts/effects (negative and positive). If these parts are clearly organized then reading would be much smoother. It would also be easier to review.
