Does this 450 radio come with a dc cigarette lighter cord as it appears in the picture ? it says ac / dc but doesn't  mention it in the information?

I do NOT remember seeing a specific "plug" for a DC cigarette lighter cord(For the Car) There are many USB connectors and at least 1 or 2 Power source cords that can be plugged into the wall, and or USB for the Computer. I am NOT a big fan as the batteries can be used, but you can also crank up the voltage and you will get tired of that. The "Rechargeable" Batteries may last, but on occasion they may need to be replaced.The antenna finally broke, but the Solar cell on top really does work outside or near a direct light SUN source next to the window. YOu just have to test it. I also recommend buying a portable pug in Antenna that attaches to the original one and gets a good signal.(AM vs. FM local or out of area)     I woudl google and look on Ebay for other similar radios, but you can take it inside your car as long as it is exposed to direct sun light and receive just fine. Cloudy days are in doubt.I have also tried the USB plugs with a small adapter which you can get at Radio Shack or most any electronics store online on Ebay. The "plug" is small and the connector will eventually wear out. Then you will need to buy another one. I havent looked at one of these on line in a couple of years now. If it's Solar, get it !!

Question 2

Should the hand crank turn and charge in either direction ? Difficult to turn clockwise feels normal counterclockwise?

Hi,Mine cranks easily in both directions. When you crank it do you see the charging indicator light on the front light up? If not I would send it back for a replacement. They really are very nice radios so please don't be discouraged. I would send it back for a replacement if it's not working correctly.

I just bought this and wall-charged it for 3 hours, following the manual. however, it only works plugged in or during cranking. what's the issue here?

It's been quite a while since I purchased mine but it seemed to me that there was a plastic take off tab for the solar panel that prevented it from working until you removed it
