Q: how to tell how much is on reel when it arrives there is no indication

When I ordered the cable, I had two or three choices in length. I ordered a 1,000 foot roll and a 600 foot role. When it arrived neither roll had a length indicated on it, but one one roll was about half the size of the other (the spools were the same size). I needed about 1,400 feet. I used the larger role first, then a little over half of the other, so I assumed I got what I ordered. The cable was perfect for my cable railing. Looks great and is of high quality.

Q: How is rust and discolorization reistance? I do not see any warranty info. I want to use for outdoor deck railing

No, not if you install it with the correct crimp kit and there is no need to leave extra cable loose to unravel.
