So far so good
So why would anybody forgo the manufacturer warranty and end up installing it themselves? Well, one thing kind of lead to another. I am a fan of Rheem based upon their excellent Marathon series of electric water heaters. The price was right and the warranty was strong. Our AquaStar was failing after 16 years and I needed to act. We pulled the trigger. There are installers who will not touch this unit. The one who would came out to this off-grid location and told us all the things he would not do. 2 issues. (1) wanted new regulator from propane tank--which we promptly had done. (2) Must utilize 3"x5" double wall exhaust pipe. The guys at Idaho Chimney Life came out and did just that. I could have waited to have Mr. Attitude come back out, but passed. I followed the installation instructions carefully and did it myself. It was pretty easy, and these units are basically plug and play. It has operated flawlessly.

Very pleased so far
Easy to install but I wish the Metal Fab exhaust pipe, recommended by Rheem, was easier to obtain and had dimensions published so as to obtain the correct length runs the first time. I really like the flexibility the remote control provides for the heater and the heater has many features that aren't listed here. They should publish the installation manual so you know what you are getting into.

THEY LIE ABOUT THEIR WARRANTY
I purchased a tankless water heater from Amazon buying a rheem water heater, It is not even a year old 8 months old to be exact and it is having issues. I am 74 years old and wanted a reliable name product. My Rheem I purchased on Amazon is now not working properly, I called their support line, they told me they cant helpo me without a serial number, well the unit is under the house so I cant get down their at my age so I paid a man to go under and get me the number, cost me 125.00 dollars for someone to come out. I call back then they tell me ok now we want 5 pictures of various parts of the unit, Why didn t they tell me that when I paid someone to come help me get the serial number, It looks like they are just not looking to hoor their warranty, NEVER BUY RHEEM THEY LIE ABOUT SUPPORT AND WARRENTY

Your plumber might get all bent out of shape! But it can be overcome
I bought this to replace a leaking traditional hot water propane heater. THAT USED A NORMAL aluminum vent pipe. this unit requires a special 3'x5" double walled vent pipe and termination. The pipe is sold at most home depot stor but maybe have to be ordered with a few days waiting time. There is a 36" pipe pjn amazon. But it is too long - for my plumber who only wated a 12 inch verticle pipe and then the termination elbows from Home Depot. This was actually an inexpensive choice. There is a low profile termination kit which is shorter but it has a even longer shipping delay. In retrospect if the PLUMBER had told me that he needed a few parts this would have all been ordered ahead of time - and that is why Iam writing this. You need a water hookup kit which is sold by home depot for the rheem unit - and the vertical 3"x5" pipe can be ordered in any length 6,12,24,36 as desired by your plumber - and the termination kit can all be pre ordered. If you do this then the plumber can simply come in and install it easily. I am hoping this will help future buyers. I will also write a review of the installed in line tankless water heater when I get a chance but right now just waiting on parts. And newer design in line heathers no longer require the concentric stainless pipe. But that means buying a more expensive unit - which may not be as reliable as this one. (It would come from a different company.)

Easy installation
Didn’t care for venting system but it wasn’t Rheems fault. Loved how set up was so easy and how quietly it runs.

Good water heater
The water heater is not the problem it's the fact you will have a hard time finding the vent pipe it's really hard to fine
