New to the diesel world, are these for the front and rear filter?

Yes, this kit is for both fuel filters and the oil on the new trucks 2019 and up.

Will your engine filter with the elliptical shaped hole still work when the original OEM filter has a circular shape opening?

I bought this kit, but I never used on Cummins engines. cause I saw this kit has the minimum requirements than cummins factory require, so my recommendation is, you have to buy original Mopar filters to use in your Cummins motor, because the cost to fix diesel injector is too expensive, and about the oil filter, there's another quality filters you can get in the market, but remember the psi or oil pression is calibrated with original Mopar filter.

Will this fit other late model cummins 6.7 applications besides ram? ie recreation vehicle

oil filter to recreation Vehicule can works, but to commercial vehicles not !! but my recommendation is, ever use Mopar filter on cummins where the factory required.
