Godinger Dublin Double Old Fashioned Glasses, 11oz, Set of 4

I purchase this set of 4 Godinger Dublin Old Fashioned Glasses because a set of 4 that my sister gave me as a gift set with a decanter had a glass with a chipped rim that we overlooked because we never used (just display). After one of a set of Reed and Barton chess theme DOF glasses that I used broke in the dishwasher and I couldn't find a replacement, I pulled out the set and decided to replace the chipped one and use them. The original set had a diamond shaped green sticker on them that said "Shannon Crystal" and these were a perfect match. This isn't heirloom quality cut crystal folks (they are molded, but the design is deep and looks good), and for presentable, decent, bar ware, they are perfect. They are MADE IN CHINA, so it seems even Irish Crystal is being outsourced. I wanted to use these for Old Fashioned cocktails and whiskey with ice spheres from my Tovolo molds and they work fine and are a decent price. The glasses are 10 oz filled to the top so they comfortably hold 8 to 9 ounces of liquid which allows a couple ounces of whiskey with ice to not look lost as it would in a giant 14 or 16 oz DOF glass. If you don't expect Mikasa Flame d'Amore cut crystal quality for under $5 a glass you'll probably appreciate these for being the presentable, good, serviceable bar ware they are. Saluti!

Beautiful

One might think charging this much for something so cheap and plastic and deliberately misrepresenting your product should get you delisted on a reputable commerce website. One might think.

These glasses are so nice and sturdy, super solid manufacturing. They appear as though they are extremely fanciful, but at a reasonable price. They are perfectly suited for dishwashing. I’ve purchased additional pieces since and am so pleased by this selection. They make such a beautiful presentation.

I have these in red and clear and use them as water glasses when there are lots of children around. They don't tip over! Of course these are NOT Waterford - they don't pretend to be! ONE DOF Waterford glass is between $55 and $70. These glasses add sparkle to a table, the design is pretty, are affordable, are kid friendly, can be used daily and go right in the dishwasher. I think those are reasons enough to buy them.

They're advertised as lead crystal. These are plastic! What a rip off and bogus description.

I have bought sets of whiskey glasses before but never a Godinger. Many others were poorly made and either chipped or cracked after a few times being washed (hand washed, never in dishwashers). So, I ran across this Godinger set and gave it a try. The design is beautiful. And after two months of regular use and nightly washes, not a single chip or crack. I had little expectations since this set was less expensive than the poorly made expensive ones. I'm happy with my purchase and will now be working to complete my Godinger sets with Wine and Champagne glasses, and whatever other Godinger Dublin sets are out there. Glad I kept looking.
