Simple applied science gives an elegantly effective solution to inflammatory pain
So, bit of background - son of a cardiac surgeon, brother of an oncologist, and most importantly an architect who suffers from carpal tunnel syndrome. Having been, one might say, overly active in my 20's & 30's, I also have significant lower back issues - suffice to say that they are bad enough for me to have had numerous "facet blocks" - a procedure similar to the epidural block given to women in labor. So one can imagine my initial reaction to a salesman pitching a "pain patch". I was openly skeptical, especially since he stressed that there was no active medicine or drug (this while I was picking up a some painkillers & muscle relaxants, lol). Once I heard him out, my curiosity was piqued. With a chemistry, metallurgical engineering background, and a practicing architect, I do know my way around the science. All of which means absolutely bugger all if it don't work.So...back to the matter at hand - I'd twisted my anterior right knee ligament a few weeks back, and thought it an excellent trial site. Applied per instructions - a five minute process the first time - and I shit you not, when I stood up, and intentionally leaned in the way slightly torqued my knee into pain - behold there was no pain. Kid you not, folks - this most simple of electrochemical device works. Within minutes. And lasts for days.I should note that this patch is not curative, only palliative as an anti-inflammatory. Make no mistake - if you take if off, it stops working. How it achieves it's amazing effects is elegantly simple chemistry. A metal disc of silver buffered magnesium (Ag & Mg likely sputter applied) disc is placed on a highly hydrophyllic gel on the patch. The patch is primarily for orthopaedic issues - sprained, swollen ligaments, joints, etc. and is placed over the portion of your knee, ankle, wrist that hurts. Heck, I've even used it to great effect on my metatarsals (toe joints). The term "anti-oxidant" is bandied about in such varied contexts, it's become almost self-defeating by overuse. "Cellular repair" is another term overused to the point where people don't even really know, and just nod their heads. What's not as clear to the layman, is that the oxidative process results in "free-radicals" - a molecule missing an electron. These free radicals carry an electrostatic charge, and cause cellular damage with the resultant inflammation. The Heliopatch slowly releases electrons over a large surface area of skin. These electrons then gravitate to, and bind, the free-radicals - stopping them from, well, being free-radicals as they no longer lack an electron. The science behind this is high-school level chemistry / biology. In a world where all the chemicals and drugs are such complex biochemical structures, this is refreshingly simple, and effective.I've handed them out to my office manage, my Gyrotonic Trainer, my psychiatrist, you name it.The name of the company "The Human Half-Cell" is it, in a nutshell.Stunningly effective, and humbling as you understand how it works.

I'm testing them all, I won't buy these again
I'm new to patches and desperate to find something that helps with my arthritic neck and low back. When I first used this patch, I thought it helped at first but that didn't last long (maybe an hour.) I've tried Salonpas-Hot which works - so hot you don't feel the original pain, Salonpas Lidocaine I probably like the best but not all-day lasting relief. I'm trying Tiger Balm next. I have a TENS unit which I use on my shoulders which provides pain relief but I can't ride horses with it, just have to sit still or walk around the house.Go ahead an try these but they are a lot of money and didn't provide me with that much relief.

Not much relief & expensive
I didn't get much relief. At first I applied two of the patches overnight & I still felt pain the next morning I applied the remaining three patches (5 in total) and got limited pain relief. I followed the directions exactly. I have bursitis in my left hip. For $29.90 I really feel this product even if it worked better would be expensive & not worth the money for the relief provided.

In the unlucky few
The pain relief is amazing, and I love that the patch covers the stickiness. I feel like the pain relief doesn't fully hit for me until the disk has left an open sore. The disk disintegrated within 24 hours, not close to 72, but my shoulder was REALLY tight. If your skin isn't sensitive and/or you can adjust the patch every hour or so, you should absolutely buy these.

I unfortunately did sleep with it on and it sort of burned a hole in my skin (for lack of a better description) that lasted near
Please follow the seller instructions and do NOT sleep with this on. I unfortunately did sleep with it on and it sort of burned a hole in my skin (for lack of a better description) that lasted nearly two weeks. In fairness to the seller/manufacturer, there was a very clear and distinct warning cautioning people not to sleep with it on, so my fault and lesson learned. More importantly in my mind is that it did not provide any pain relief for me whatsoever. People respond differently to things and this particular item has seemingly worked for many other people, so was a bit disappointed, but not the seller's fault.

It works!!
I saw comments that this is a scam. Let me tell you something. This product works. The key is to finding the exact point of where the pain is radiating from. The Helio patch has helped my forearm tendonitis. I was in such pain I couldn't hold a pen in my hand, and it was excruciating to use the mouse when working on the computer.I also deal with sciatica nerve pain that shoots down my leg when I am sitting at my desk at work or in my car. This patch has worked wonders to stop that pain. It immediately worked upon applying the patch. It may seem costly, but at $6.00 a patch that can last a few days, that is great deal compared to a $50.00 visit to the chiropractor that relieves pain for about a week.I am thrilled to finally get relief and be able to function.

Every pain patch is different.
I gave it three stars because it didn't help the pain like I thought it would. But everyone's different. Don't get discouraged.

Difficult to use for actual pain relief
The instructions said that often the patch must go not where the pain is but somewhere that’s the source. I never found the right place thus never got any pain relief. I would say that opposite, it often intensified the pain. I wondered if I was allergic although I never saw any irritation to the skin. I felt I wasted my money.
