Vktech AT&T Novatel MiFi 2372 Wireless Mobile Hotspot USB 3G Network WiFi Router

This product ONLY connects to your wifi while on battery power. It will not work while charging. Period. Frankly, I cannot comprehend this and would not have purchased this unit if I had known that. It kind of defeats the purpose.Plus, the battery gets drained quickly even if the device is "off"; there is no switch off, you need configure the auto off through a browser.So if you need portable internet for your laptop, make sure you don't need a constant connection cause this option is "battery only", and "shortly after you charged it".

I read all the reviews and almost did not order this device cause everyone seemed to say it was hard to set up and would not charge when in use. Boy am I glad I did not listen to them. This device is great. I was replacing a Sierra Wireless usb connect card on AT&T because my company would not get me a MIfi. I received it and it had a 4 step process to set up. 1. Install sim card. 2. Install battery and charge you can be charging it on a micro usb while you are setting it up). 3. Turn on. 4. Connect you device and enter provided security code from the sticker on the device. Wala. Connected. Please note that my security id was in all caps it did not work the first time since I did not have my caps lock turned on, it is case sensitive. It is almost 4 times faster that my air card. I downloaded large programs on both devices for comparison. I just had a video chat with Face Time on my Ipad 2 and it was almost as freeze free as on my 10mbps internet service through my home wifi. As for the charging this device has a 1.2 amp charger. If you try and charge any high usage device on a computer usb it will be disabled to prevent damage to your computer...daaaa don't try and wire around this unless you want to damage your computer). Works fine while charging from any micro usb adapter. I would suggest one of a fairly high output or the battery might be slowly discharging while it is plugged in if the charger can't keep up with usage. I am not tech savy and this is a no brainer to set up and use. I love it and now I can use my Ipad and computer at the same time anywhere. A 3g Ipad is a waste of money when you can buy this and use the same data plan on all you devices. Highly recommended, 5 stars.

Overall, I am not impressed with the product and may not use it. I wanted it because it was on the support list of data only Docomo SIM resellers in Japan and wanted a backup internet connection. It works, and that is good.The battery it came with didn't really fit and wasn't charging, I am glad I ordered an extra battery. The LED indicator is basically nonsense. It will flash back and forth between colors if one of them needs and so you can't tell if that means connected or not unless you go to the web interface. The web interface may lock up for several minutes.I am looking for a good USB modem that will give me better and faster control of the networks it connects to as this software is poor. At least I am able to leverage the unlimited Data plan I was seeking in Japan.

I could not make this device work on ATT's network. ATT store told me there was no way to make this device work. i returned it instantly.

This was recommended to me by my ATT "guy". I was frustrated because I couldn't get decent internet service from ATT dial up - it was too slow. Could do housework,laundry, & dishes while waiting to get on line. The cable company wouldn't even do a site review - too rural for them. I had some problems getting it up & running but more to my amatuer status than the mifi. However once I figured it out - wow! It was faster than my son's cable internet! Handles all my wireless devices with very little noticeable slow down. Love the convenience of taking it with my laptop anywhere. Holds a good,long charge. Very happy & in the process of purchasing a second one! Changed my online experience. Works great during power outages - can stay connected with family & friends no matter what even during a recent flood experience. Yes the cell towers kept working even though power did not. I recommend it highly to anyone.

the item overheats when i turn it on but i have no choice it is the only one i can use for my internet unless i change companies and pay more. i would not recommend it at all......also i did not get the right cord for it so i have to use my old one.

Overall, I am very glad I purchased the Novatel MiFi. This was a much better deal than what I could get through my wireless carrier. Delivery was quick and it is simple to use. I bought it to use with my Kindle Fire. The only disappointment is the connection isn't strong enough to download movies. However, I LOVE that I can have internet anywhere!!!

This is a piece of junk. Came missing parts, did not work. Garage.
