Best monitor i had in years! (For europe and middle east buyers be careful!)
Tbh i was very skeptical from the bad reviews! But daaamm! Its been one month now and i couldnt wait to share this! This monitor is the best! For price! Quality! Everything! It works well with watching movies! Games! Picture quality! Its perfect! U can also set it on the highest screen resolution!- there is NO bleeding! I posted pictures in the night just to show you!!-for europe and middle east people!!!! Be careful the power corde cable you get is different From what we use!! So if u dont have one you need to order one online (((look in the last 2 pictures))) OR buy one from a computer store near u!The last picture is what cable u get!- As for VGA and HDMI and dvd cables! They come in with the monitor box! Fresh and new! Dont buy them!! Dont do the stupid mistake like i didI highly recommend this monitor!

Nice cheap monitor
Keeping in mind that this is a really low cost monitor, I’m really impressed. It definitely is lacking some features of higher end monitors: it isn’t adjustable up or down, it doesn’t have vesa mounts, and no sound, and it’s only 60 hz.But - if you’re ok with all of that, it’s a pretty nice monitor. I’m pleasantly surprised with the picture quality. The colors seem true and the brightness is good with no leakage around the bezel. The bezels are nice and thin too. I spent most of my computer budget on building a tower, so I went cheap with the monitor - and It’s going to be just fine. If I upgrade, it’ll make a great second monitor. The only thing I don’t like is that the transformer is external in a brick. It’s a little harder to hide the cable with the brick, but it does allow the monitor to be a lot thinner.

Super thin and sleek 2016 model year display from Acer with a 3 year-warranty!
PC/Mac technician here. I was looking for a new display for my benches that fit a few requirements... I have multiple displays(solo display on each separate work bench).1. Must be a new display from this year(2016) - this one being first available March 30th, 2016 on Amazon).2. Must be an IPS panel.3. Must have HDMI, DVI and VGA.4. Must look modern and sleek.5. Must have a matte display(no gloss or glass).6. Must have a VESA mount(which this DOES NOT!! - NOTE TO ACER - provide a VESA mount to snap in instead of the desk base stand with each display!!!). Or sell it for $5.007. Must have a 3-year warranty. This Acer R221Q display fit almost all of my needs. There are third parties that sell a WAY over priced VESA mount bracket that snaps in place of the included desktop base stand for $30 or so. Again - Acer! Include a VESA mount!!!Having a friend who works with metal, we fabricated a gently curved piece of 1.5" wide flat steel and tapped it for 2 of the 4 standard VESA mount holes and tapped it for the 2 screws that hold part of the stand that it comes with. This solution = all original parts and the included stand can be re-installed if ever it were to be desk mounted with out any altering of the stock parts. It's very sturdy because this display weighs so little. It's securely attached with only 2 screws into a 100mm vesa mount attached to my bench(articulating arm type screwed to a vertical support).Oh right, back to the review of this display...For years I have sworn by Dell's premium UltraSharp displays - Dell no longer offers UltraSharp's in anything less than a 24" now. 24" is too large for my bench setup. Since Dell wasn't an option, I figured I'd take a gamble and try out this NEW Acer R221Q which had no reviews. I found a Viewsonic(which had VESA) but it's "new" and a 2012 model so that was not considered). This display is super thin depth wise and weighs so little compared to the 8 year old 19" Dell it replaced. It has a matte finish and is of high quality. The bulk of the depth is towards the 1/3 of the bottom of the back of the display where the VGA, DVI and HDMI and power are. It really looks nice mounted on my bench. The menu system is a little clunky compared to Dells and the power button(and other buttons - which are mounted at the bottom of the screen) feel very flimsy, but operate ok. Time will tell how these buttons hold up - 3-year warranty makes me less concerned. The display comes with a VGA cable and an HDMI cable - no DVI cable included. I did notice compared to my older Dell the auto input sensing is far quicker than the Dell display had.I am very pleased with this display. Because it's a "zero frame" as they call it, it has a very narrow "frame" around the border(3/8" black border). Because of this slimmer frame it is only about 2" wider(facing the display) than the 19" widescreen it replaced and very much slimmer depth wise - one reason for it's weight loss compared to displays of old is lack of VESA mount thread inserts and the power supply is a brick instead of being built-in to the display. The top 2/3 of the back of the display depth-wise is only 1/4" thick - which is awesome! That and modern manufacturing has led to very lightweight panels. This makes for a sleek slim display that looks awesome on my bench - I will be ordering more shortly. I will post a picture of the Dell/Samsung displays this R221Q will be replacing so you may see a comparison shot of 7/8 year old tech versus current tech(after I order more). The only negatives I have are:VESA MOUNT!!! - please include one acer!!HDMI looks flickery(because it is) having hooked up 3 different PCs(1 desktop, 2 laptops) the video flickers on the HDMI port. I will test this with the next 2 I order to see if it's this specific one I received or something to be concerned with and update this review.

Gorgeous display and minimal design
I wanted a full HD display to upgrade my Intel NUC desktop Intel NUC Kit NUC6i5SYH to edit and view HD video and to record my desktop in HD video resolution. I also needed a monitor that I could move or remove to make space on my desk and to travel with on rare occasions. This monitor is light weight and the width is about five inches wider that my full size keyboard that includes a number pad. The anti-glare screen is easier on my eyes than my Panasonic panel TV that reflects the room during daylight viewing. I watch streaming videos without eye strain during daylight hours on this device. The AC to DC power converter is external with a black box measuring 1.25" x 1.75" x 4". The upper two-thirds of the screen is less than pencil thin. The bottom center edge bulges out to about 1.5". I considered a larger screen, but this 21.5 inch diagonal screen is completely adequate for my desktop computer. It replaced a much heavier Gateway 1280x1024 18" monitor that was perfectly usable but lacked full HD resolution.

and I think that this is the best review I can truly give them
There is not much that can be said about these monitors that hasn't been said by Acer themselves. and I think that this is the best review I can truly give them. They are as advertised. They are the quality I hoped, at the price I wanted, with the only negatives being human error problems, and not worth the loss of a star. (see below)Monitors, like many electronics, don't always ship from the same warehouses or factories, and the companies don't always have the luxuries of printing new instructions for each new model. So, my three monitors came in all the same boxes, but SLIGHTLY different packaging inside. One had the cords twist tied in their bags, the others didn't, little differences. But the parts were all there. The instruction manuals were... vague, and intended to encompass ALL of the models sold when those manuals were printed. nothing that couldn't be figured out with a second read.

Excelente equipo y excelente servicio!!!

Great choice for multimedia
I love this screen! The blue light filter is great for gaming and movie watching, I don't feel any eye strain after more than 5 hours. The filter does make the colours yellow-ish, but your eyes adjust and still provides deep blacks. The frame rate is locked to 60hz, but the monitor has reduced screen tearing (plus 120hz gaming really is only needed for twitch gaming). The stand is also tidy and convenient for keeping a clean desk. The thin bezel is great for multiple monitors, and what i plan to upgrade when the price drops again!

Excellent value + small bezel - no hdmi cable
Excellent value. I ordered two and they look great side by side. This had the smallest bezel I could find without paying double. It is the same physical size as my old monitor but it gives me an extra inch of active screen. Despite what I read in the Q&A both of mine only came with VGA cable. That seems super dumb on Acer's part. Who uses VGA anymore? I did not need them but others might so just an FYI - It does not have speakers.

What i was looking for!
Sorry for the mess in the photo, however this screen is actually super amazing. The colors are more dull then my main monitor, but that is okay considering its just a secondary monitor.Honestly if your looking for a monitor to be your secondary and you don't wanna splurge on anything this is the one to go by.

Best IPS for the money? Read your manuals before assembly.
Works. Paid for one-day shipping, got delayed, was refunded one-day + tip. Incredible customer service via live-chat.Best IPS monitor for the money based on my own judgment.Assembly was quick.Sturdy, metal.Cons: Apparently, even touching the screen will "severely damage" it, and is not covered under warranty. #scared
