A truly great-tasting pea protein powder at an unbelievably low price!
Much like my adventures in trying pre-made pea protein drinks, finding a similarly, well-made and fine tasting product led me to try Anthony's Pea Protein. I was already familiar with Anthony's products having purchased their Acacia Senegal powder which I mix with water and juice to calm my IBS (Irritable bowel Syndrome). If you 're having issues with either constipation or diarrhea (or both), Acacia Senegal powder is what you need to be taking. People with IBS cannot tolerate soy or milk products and that is the reason why pea protein is an ideal substitute for whey and milk-based protein powders. I had been buying a different brand of pea protein powder up until few months ago when the seller no longer stocked it, which is why I went looking for a suitable replacement. My three requirements were (1) good tasting with none of the gritty and harsh consistency of other powders, (2) thoroughly and easily mixable with almond or cashew milk, and (3) sizable quantity at a sizable savings. Anthony's Pea Protein met all three with flying colors. I make my shakes in a 14-speed Hamilton Beach blender that I bought at Wal-Mart for under $20. Besides being inexpensive, what I like about this blender is its self-cleaning function: you fill it with water and press the button marked "Self Clean," rinse and repeat two more times and you're done. I fill the blender with either organic spinach or kale and add about a cup of unsweetened almond milk. I run the blender on PULSE for a few times until the greens start to get chopped up then push the SMOOTHIE button to liquefy it. I remove the center cap and pour in two cups of Wyman's frozen Wild Blueberries ( which have 2x the antioxidants of regular blueberries and a 3lb bag costs me $13) . After letting that liquefy, I then drop in a ripe organic banana. Sometimes I add other fruit like strawberries or a honey mango but usually it's just the blueberries and banana. Lastly, I take a measuring cup that was left over from my last container of whey protein, fill it to the brim with Anthony's pea protein and carefully but quickly pour it into the blender. If I had to name the only downside to using this protein is that the powder is extremely fine - like the consistency of baby powder. If you're not careful, you'll be wearing some of it. What I've done when the contents get low is to cut off the excess top of the bag so that I don't have to navigate the scoop up and out of a tall bag. Since that also cuts off the resealable strip, I use a chip clip (or any spring-loaded plastic or metal clip will also work) to keep the bag tightly closed. I let the blender run on MIX which is like the 2nd lowest setting for about 30 more seconds before stopping the blender and pouring it into one of the containers left over from my Ninja Bullet blender that died a year ago. I forgot to mention that the powder does not have any flavor of its own, so keep that in mind when you make your smoothies. You might wish to add some sweetener to it which I do if I'm using kale as my greens. That's another thing worth noting. I buy Erythritol which is the only sugar alcohol (stuff that end in "ol" like Sorbitol, Mannitol, Xylitol, etc.) that is not metabolized in the colon. In fact, very little winds up in there having first been processed by the liver and kidneys. This is also why it's a safe artificial sweetener to use...in moderation. Here's the product that I buy on Amazon. A 3lb bag costs only $14.99: Erythritol Sweetener Natural Sugar Substitute 3lb - Granulated Low Calorie Sweetener High Digestive Tolerance Suitable for Diabetes Keto and Paleo - Baking Substitute Non GMO https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079X4G97G/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Great protein for the price
I love this plant based protein it is by far the highest quality pure pea protein without anything added for the cheapest price. I love to add this to my smoothies because it doesn’t change the texture of the smoothies like whey protein does. It blends well and in something that has fruits and veggies in it already you can barely taste it, so it is far worth the little bit of weird taste for the protein. Something I love to make with this is protein pancakes. I just do one scoop protein, 1.5 scoops flour, a tablespoon of baking powder, and soy milk until it is the right texture. I top with peanut butter and maple syrup and fruit and it’s always delicious. As a vegan, it is really nice to have some supplemental protein because as it is easily possible to get enough protein, it’s hard with sweet breakfasts and I am a big sweet breakfast person so this helps me out a lot!

Very good
A good amount of protein powder for the price. It tastes like pure pea protein which I really like because I’m not a fan of all the additives in other protein powders. The flavor is very mild so it’s easy to mix with smoothies or oatmeal. I just drink it with water to get my daily dose of protein in the morning, but it’s easy on the stomach so long as you don’t take too much at once on an empty stomach.

Could not use zipper on bag for a long time.
I like to mix two tablespoons of this with 1/3-1/2 teaspoon of chicken bouillon powder, microwave it for 2.5 or so minutes, and then drink it hot. It is very tasty. It also dissolves really well. I think that I prefer drinking this over hot tea or coffee, and since there is no caffeine it doesn't make me jittery. One cup with the two tablespoons gives me 16g protein. So overall, this product is good. However, there are three reasons why I will probably not buy this again. a.) The zipper was broken and unusable from the very beginning. It's too thin, difficult to use, but also impossible to use because it won't ever snap even if I spend 20 hours trying to close it. Other purchases have complained about the same thing. This is unacceptable. If I buy a resealable bag with a zipper, the zipper should work. b.) There is a cheaper product on Amazon that costs 50 cents an ounce instead of 72 an ounce. and c.) I only drink a cup of this every few days, but despite that the 2 lb bag is not lasting long. So it makes sense to buy a bigger quantity of pea protein powder. Since I can get another brand's 5 lb bag for cheaper, I think that I should just go with that. Still, this is a good product. If it weren't for the broken zipper on the bags, I would give it a 4.5 or 5 star rating. UPDATE: Suddenly, I could use the zipper again after I already used 2/3 of the bag. Maybe I couldn't use it before because some powder was wedged into the zipper but eventually became dislodged. I found out AFTER ordering the other brand. I could cancel that order, but it is too much hassle. Besides, the other brand has a 5 lb bag at around 70% of the cost.

Went Dairy free / Great for smoothies
I am absolutely loving this protein powder! I have been drinking protein smoothies for several years and it took me awhile to find what I liked that was simple and affordable. I settled on plain whey powder but not after trying some pea protein powders. My biggest issue with pea protein powder was that my smoothies turned out watery (with whey they were fluffy) and the taste was strong. Maybe my taste buds have matured or maybe it’s the fact that I have (SADLY) had to give up dairy and still need my protein smoothies, or maybe it’s because I have a different blender than years ago, but I am LOVING this pea protein powder and I am super happy with it! It’s still not as fluffy as whey, but when I use frozen fruit and a bunch of spinach, it’s pretty thick. Also, it does not have a strong pea protein taste like I remember. I will say that it has an earthy/grainy texture, but it isn’t bothersome to me nor anything that would be a flaw for me, but I know that might be an important piece of info for those new to protein powders or new to the pea scene. For someone who just switched to dairy free, I think this is the best option you can get (at least, if you don’t want a bunch of ingredients in your protein powder). Here’s a basic yummy recipe for a smoothie made in a Ninja: 10 Oz coconut milk (the 45 cal/cup one) 1 cup of pineapple 3 tablespoons of this protein powder 1 teaspoon of Matcha powder 1.5 large handfuls of spinach Very small handful of aronia berries (we have bushes at our house!) Mix and enjoy!

Great product at a great price!
Personally I like it. I usually mix it into smoothies and the texture is fine. I've tried multiple vegan proteins and the biggest issue is texture. Also the pricepoint on this one is great!

I'm a Carnivore.... Rawr.
So, just to be transparent, I'm not a Vegan/Vegetarian/Protein Shake Enthusiast/Gym Rat/Health Nut/Etc Etc... I'm just a guy that occasionally drinks a protein shake in the morning and came to Amazon seeking just that. On a whim, I noticed this product, thought it was neat that it was based on a single ingredient, and figured I would try it out. Reading the reviews I noticed a lot of BS floating around this product, not sure why, but figured I'd give my honest opinion to help anyone else considering this product. Texture - About the same as any other protein powder I've mixed really, I kinda felt like it mixed in more easily than other protein powders I've tried in the past though? Smell - Kinda like pumpkin guts? Once mixed that was the impression it gave. If you are particularly disgusted by the smell of pumpkin guts, then some mix-ins would probably help to mask what didn't seem like an overpowering scent anyway. Taste - Meh, nothing really? I added two tablespoons, gave it a good shake, took in its aroma, and gave it a sip. Honestly, it just tasted like water, nothing overpowering. I'm not saying it's completely tasteless, but if anything the taste reminded me of the smell of normal white flour? All the prima donnas claiming they were "desperately mixing it so they wouldn't gag while drinking it" must have taste buds worthy of the Gods because I got pretty much nothing from it. If anything, I would even say that I prefer this over the fake chemical tasting flavors of the more popular protein powders, instead of trying to fake chocolate or vanilla flavors it just has a "white flour" kinda taste with an accompanying pumpkin gut smell, easily masked by mix-ins, in my opinion. Sodium Content - I'm not sure why some people are posting pictures of the label saying 600mg of sodium? Maybe it's rival companies doctoring photos, a label misprint on old packaging, or just people being malicious for no apparent reason. But the bag that I received says 60mg of sodium, which puts it in the "low" classification for sodium content, it also does not contain an "overly salty taste", despite what I saw one review say. Mixing - I did try adding two tablespoons of Peanut Butter Powder to it after taking a few sips, but it really did nothing for the flavor. Added maybe a tiny hint of peanut butter, but only in the slightest. But that was also a new Peanut Butter Powder I haven't' tried before, so it could have just been that brand. I'm pretty sure though with some fruit and whatnot that it would blend right in with no issues. Packaging - The bag is "sturdy enough" but the seal at the top sucks, you are going to need a bag clip or a container to put it into because on it's own you are risking Pea Powder going all over the place. Overall - I wanted a protein powder I could mix in with my morning shakes, and I got one that is comprised of a single ingredient, Peas! Neat!

Not great taste but overall good product
Good product if you don’t want all the unnecessary additives in vegan protein powders. The only negative is that it doesn’t mix well as most of my past vegan proteins. I added fruit to my oatmeal and maybe a bit of monk fruit sweetener to enhance the taste. Otherwise, this protein powder is better than buying one that has tons of ingredients that really are not useful.

180mg of Sodium PER SCOOP. A 30g scoop has 180mg of Sodium, or 1/3 of the Sodium in a Big Mac.
This product shouldn't be allowed to be sold as pure pea protein. This is false advertising. They soak the pea in salt and this is extremely unhealthy for you.
