Good selection of tunes but people self-teaching will need another book first
A very good selection of tunes with a good progression of skills. I think someone learning without a teacher will need to do some looking up on the internet. For example, for the first tune you need to know what/ where 'middle C' is, what and where the other notes used are, what the numbers above the notes mean, how the shape of notes indicates how long they last, and about bar lines, counts and rhythms (4 counts in the first piece, 3 in the second). Many free videos about these, but this is not a good book for people who think they will have difficulty learning music notation, and best as a second book for people learning by themselves. There are several blank pages at the back. What a pity not to have used them at the front to show notes in relation to keys, finger numbers, and counts in relation to bars.

Wonderful news! The book every teacher would produce if they cohld
This is the book I always wanted when actively teaching, suitable for all ages. The important bit is that because so many of the tines are well- known, no keen player would want to stop the course until it is completed, and in doing so would be at grade 1 level. The amount of teahing needed for an intelligent person age 10 upwards would be confined to technique and musicality.

Not very clear
Not the clearest instructions for beginners

BEST LEARNERS BOOK OUT THERE!
I’ve been a piano teacher for 11 years, and in that time I’ve had over 80 young people and like to stick to my regular method books.I bought this after seeing a few pages and tried it on my own child before teaching with it, and I can honestly say that she is the BEST I’ve ever had at note reading and I believe it is due to this book! The pace is wonderful so the children can recognise their own progress. My daughter is 6 and is moving beautifully through the book with note recognition & is noticing and playing the correct intervals due to the methods used within this book. I will be using this for every single student I have from now on, I love it so much & cannot wait for more!! Can we have a grade 1 to grade 2 book next please! 🥰

Adult beginner
I'm a self-learning adult beginner and I'm using this book alongside 'Daily Drills: 100 to master note reading on the piano". Really liking this book, it seems very well organised, and I'm much preferring it over Faber Adult Piano Adventures, which seems all over the place, despite being the most often recommended. This book feels better paced, with lots of practice at each little additional step. Only problem is I don't know what book to go onto after this, as there isn't a follow on book (yet).

Good book but …….
Great selection of well known pieces included, so instantly appeals to beginners. Unfortunately incorrect rests in many of the pieces is unacceptable. Beginners need to see basic music correctly written from day one!
