Q: Is the moen 1222hd a direct replacement for the moen 1222. I have a moen posi temp shower body will this replace the plastic moen posi temp 1222 ??

I tried the replacement you buy at home depot, it was all plastic, it still dripped. I ordered the Brass 1222HD from Amazon, the exact one that was originally in the diverter. It worked, no more drip. It cost more but you have no choice. It should last another 20 years, as did the first one.

Q: some online sources claim that the brass ones have a greater tendency to build up mineral deposits and seize. anyone actually experience this?

I actually have the Nylon cartridge (it's what came with the shower) and it became very sticky with deposits after just 3 years. I am replacing with these brass ones to hopefully get a bit more life on these than the Nylon ones.

Q: Is the moen 1222hd commercial heavy-duty brass shell positemp one-handle tub and/or shower faucet cartridge a replacement for the 1222b cartridge?

I believe 1222 is the oem part, 1222b is the standard replacement and 1222hd is the commercial grade replacement. I installed these to replace the oem plastic casing version and they are awesome. The casing is all metal and much heavier.
