A perfect temporary jack
This picky engineer-type votes that this is a perfect temporary jack. I will use it to lift a gazebo roof and repair the water-damaged post bases.Buyer : First thing : unscrew the post and add a high quality grease to the threads and to the base pivot - then screw all the way in to spread the grease.(Manufacturer : please don't paint the threads - the paint is not good for "slipperiness.")

Worked exactly as described.
So I ordered two, and it kind of seemed like they came from different batches. The one I am presuming was older, had paint on the threads which was a minor issue, it made it considerably harder to crank than the other one, which didn't have paint on the threads. but they worked perfectly for the job. would be cooler if they were adjustable with a ratchet, but they got the job done. I used them to lift a deck I built for a customer, due to erosion issues with their soil, a footing sank 2" so I needed to replace the post with one 2" taller. Good product, made the repair easy.4 star for the old one with paint on the screw, 5 star for the one without!

Serves it's purpose well and is an excellent value
As other reviewers have noted, when these were painted, the exposed threads were painted also and on two of the four I purchased, I had to spend some time with some paint stripper gel and a wire brush in order to get the paint off enough to where the screw could be operated relatively easily. That one 'minor' issue not withstanding, the shore jacks performed well. In my application, the previous homeowner added on a 6 x 20 foot pantry alongside the house but only supported the outside wall with 6, 4x4 posts in cement at ground level. Needless to say, the 4x4s rotted out at the ground level and these shore jacks allow me to support the outside wall while I replace the 4x4 posts with a more adequate post and beam support. I am very happy with how they are working.

The best adjustable post base for supporting beams
Makes supporting beams that have settled to different heights so much easier

Works excellent for supporting sagging joists in a crawl space
The issues with paint making the threads hard to turn must be fixed because I ordered 2 from different vendors and they both work excellent. I installed a large shower and deep tub on sagging joists and instead of pouring cement footing and all that trouble I just set these down on some thick plywood and DONE. $50 instead of $500 in labor? I'm sold. I will probably get 10-12 more to help replace the water damaged ledger in my house. Highly recommend to have 2 of these laying around for any renovation work.

Feels heavy duty compared to other posts
The quality of these appears decent. Some welds are better than others, but should not affect the function or load capacity. As other reviews have stated, these appear to have some paint overspray on the screw threads as well as some welding spatter. This can be cleaned up with a wire brush and then it should function as intended.

Works well, sturdy construction
This shore jack worked really well to help me sister the 2nd story joist rafters by jacking up each joist to be able to have enough clearance to turn the new joist so it would sit along side the old one. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND using a wire brush on the threads to remove any paint to make your life easier before using this shore jack. Other than that it is affordable, sturdy and easy to use, would definitely buy again.

Extremely well built
I had a 4 by 4 corner post support for an overhead deck that had rotted out and i needed a tempoary adjustable support to take up the deck weight while i replaced the rotten post on the outside. What made this jack so handy was the ability to adjust its height and take up the slack. Make sure to use some grease on threaded portion. Pricey but not a throw away tool by any means.

Functional, as expected.
I used this to anchor a 9' cedar 4x4 that we're using as a scratching/climbing post for the cats, so we don't have to sink screws into the ceiling or floor. It works well. The 4x4 fits into the socket rather loosely, perhaps 1/8" around all sides, but that hasn't affected its functionality.Could have given five stars, but only robots give five stars.
