on my purchase of a used truck LEER cap, the struts were worn out and glass entry lid wouldn't stay up. I got the number off the old ones and in item description for exact replacement part number in this add, it says 39 lbs on each shock, my old one said 40 lbs on it, I went ahead and ordered it and the new set arrived the next day and both of them labeled 40 lbs on them. Not sure why product description says 39 lbs but rest assured, they are 40 lbs just like the original. The lid works properly, like new which is what I was looking for.

I ordered them from the dealer that sold me the shell and I was real disappointed because they didn't last half as long as the ...
40 lbs each is way too much for a light weight glass door on a Lear camper shell for a Toyota Tacoma. One is all you need! I didn't know what to think when I rec'd the struts and tried to compress them with my bare hands. It takes a lot of strength to do it! At first I thought there was something wrong with them because I didn't expect so much spring resistance and I figured I had purchased the wrong part. I was misled by the amazon reviews that I read. But I decided to replace only one weak strut to see how it operates and this new Suspa C16-20651 19" is still way more than enough pressure to lift and sustain the glass door. They didn't send any installation instructions on how to remove or back off the spring clip before installing them but I figured it out. There is a groove on the back of the strut beneath the spring clip to stick a tiny screwdriver in. The last replacements I bought only lasted about three years and had a much lower spring resistance. I ordered them from the dealer that sold me the shell and I was real disappointed because they didn't last half as long as the original. I called them again just to compare prices and they wanted $35.00 each! That would have been another mistake...So this is a good buy for me. I only need one for now. Maybe I'll put the other strut on later, but right now one is fine. Finding the right part required some effort and research because I couldn't trust the Lear dealer. This is still not the recommended replacement part, but I'll keep 'em.
