Daler Rowney Earthbound A4 Spiral Cachet Sketchbook

It works amazingly. I love it, so I bought another one. This is the second one I have bought and I'm just completely in love with how well it works with my pencils.

This is the number #1 sketchbook for me and anyone else who’s in on leaving behind that white paper onto something new. I tried it and now a year later I can say that this is definitely the right sketchbook for me. I used to work with toned grey but since most of my artwork consists of dark sketches and charcoal I moved on to the Daler Rowney. It’s where I do all my plan sketches before I watercolor on my Arches. The paper has a smooth surface and the sketchbook itself has a nice smell to it. The cover is completely blank and decorate-able and the inside can take almost any medium Besides Copics, they just bleed. The book lays completely flat when drawing but over time the spirals have begun to sort of mess up a little...but that’s just alright. You’ll love your new sketchbook, guaranteed.

Dieses Skizzenbuch gefällt mir sehr gut, die Ringbindun ist stabil und das Papier hat eine tolle Farbe und eine gute Struktur, die sich sehr gut für MixedMedia eignet. Einziges klitzekleines Manko ist, dass es nicht "bleedproof" ist, d.h. wer mit Markern arbeitet, sollte nich beidseitig auf einem Blatt arbeiten und zur IScherheit hitner das Blatt einen Zettel legen, der durchlaufende Farbe auffängt.

A bit expensive, but the paper quality is very good- not too thick or thin, with an extremely fine texture. It's thinner and smoother than cartridge paper but sturdier than regular printer paper. Smooth enough to draw on with a thin mechanical pencil or fineliner. I mainly bought it for the fact that it's recycled and that it's toned- excellent for sketching and drawing with dramatic highlights. My fountain and brush pens don't feather at all on the page, lines are crisp, and white ink highlights stand out really well. However white coloured pencil doesn't really come out that opaque no matter how many layers or how much pressure i use (I've tried polychromos and steadtler aquarell). Hopefully a white chalk pencil will fix this. Otherwise this is a lovely sketchbook.

Love the unusual smooth paper for this brown papered sketchbook, I usually expect them to be rough/soft suger paper/kraftbook but this paper is lovely to work with, especially for linework(I tend to use brush pens and posca pens). Although markers like pro markers will leak through the back of the pages they have minimal bleed(the action of the ink expanding past what you want on the page) when being used on these pages.Arrived on time and will probably be filled in no time.also to note there are tiny squiggles on the pages, i personally think it adds character to the pages but if you wanted just smooth and clear pages this book may not be for you.

I liked the idea of a recycled paper sketch pad and this is pretty good. It takes coloured pencil nicely, the pages are reasonably smooth and the book is well put together with good thick covers.I also hoped to use it for ink drawing. Here it is more of a mixed bag. It is fine with a calligraphy nib, but Rotring technical nibs catch slightly. Black is ok but Rotring white ink is a little disappointing compared to its performance on other papers. I suspect a basic crow quill dip pen would be horrible to use on this. Indian ink doesn't bleed noticably when applied with a pen, but washes are hopeless. Acrylic ink behaves nicely. The paper does suffer from bleed through and buckling but that's pretty normal.

Received quickly and is of a very high quality. It's probably the best sketch book I've had in a while. It's lovely to draw on and I've inked some of my sketches and it doesn't go through or bleed at all which is always good. I'd defiantly recommend it to anyone looking for a good sketchbook.
