LifeProof Loyalist No More!
I bought this product to replace a LifeProof case that I had owned for just over a year. I have had a lot of experience with LifeProof over the years and was very loyal to their brand. That was until after OtterBox bought them out. The LifeProof product does not last very long and their warranty process is absolute crap. So, I began looking for an alternative and came across the (relatively) new Pelican line of phone cases. As a member of the military, I've dealt with and handled Pelican products for years and have never been disappointed. Thinking on it, I only recall one failure of any type with a Pelican product. So, I trustingly put my money on this new case. I'm so far very impressed! I've had this case for a little over a month now and the case is superior to LifeProof in almost every way. It's lighter, slimmer, and feels much more durable for daily use and it's less expensive. My ONLY complaint with this case is that the sound coming out of the phone through the speakers is significantly reduced. With the LifeProof, if I placed my phone in the shower I could still hear music just fine. With the Pelican, not so much. This is in no way a deal-breaker for me, just a minor inconvenience. Phone sound and microphone seem unaffected as I have received no complaints from callers and I never get asked to repeat myself. The headphone connection is very similar to LifeProof and as such, an adapter is provided. The only part of the construction I'm concerned about is the charging port. It seals better than the LifeProof does, but I fear it may wear out with daily use. That remains to be seen. It should be noted, however that the charging port cover on the LifeProof was the first thing to wear out in less than 6 months of use. Overall, I'm very impressed and I would highly recommend this product if you need a strong, durable, waterproof case for your iPhone.

almost perfect
I was looking for a nice waterproof case to take with me on a recent trip to Aruba. I had a Jeep tour scheduled where I could get dusty and/or wet, and I wanted to protect my phone as it was what I used to take photos with. I also didn't want to worry while down by the pool or out at the beach. After researching a number of cases, I settled on this one. I've owned other Pelican products before, and was hoping for a better experience than I had when I owned a Lifeproof case. My case arrived, and I performed the test prior to putting my phone in the case. Everything was fine, so I put my phone in. It worked like a dream as far as protecting the phone and keeping water and dirt out. The only minor complaint I had was that I was told I sounded muffled, which is one of the reasons (far from the main reason) I stopped using the Lifeproof case. Overall, a good case. I would recommend it to a friend.

Not ready for production. Released to early before testing
It is waterproof... That's about the only good thing. Was looking forward to a good waterproof case. After about a month, I am getting rid of it. Here is a list of reasons: Case does not fit together well, it is waterproof but I can squeeze it together more and it creaks a lot since it is not held together well. The Touch ID works about 50% of the time because bubbles get under the film they use and cause a faulty reading Sound quality on calls is terrible, there is a hum about 75% of the time that doesn't allow you to hear the other person The vibrate switch... It is very difficult to switch to vibrate, but I figured I could deal with that. Except that there is so much tension on the switch that it ends up switching the sound back on after about 5-10 minites. Not good for meetings! The material that they used for the screen protector is very poor quality. It had marks all over it after the first couple days and looks terrible now. I have not dropped it and it sits in my pocket alone. There is no reason it should have all these marks. Overall the case does its job in protecting from water, but it is not worth all the other hassles that I have had to put up with. I have called pelican and it doesn't seem like they know about the case or are willing to fix the issues. I even offered to continue to help them develop the case and fix the issues but they were not interested. I do not recommend this case to anyone for daily use, maybe just put it on when you want to use it in the water?

Nice case but there are some issues ...
I had a different case by a different company for a year when the plastic started falling apart. I decided to get a new case. It had to be drop proof and have a screen protector. Pros: This meets and exceeds these expectations by also being water proof. I like the sound from this case. I find it easy to hear the sound and people have been able to hear me. The mute button works very well. My old case it did not work at all. Finger print scanning has no issues. Cons: What I don't like about the case is the headphone input. The headphone input is deep on the case. You can't use your normal headphones. Pelican did help out by providing an extension cord for the case. However, now I have to remember to carry around another cord, so not the most convenient. A second complaint that I did not realize at first was how hard the buttons are to press. I have had many cases for many different phones. This case by far is the most difficult to use. The worst button is the side on/off button. My wife and son can not press this button to make it work, and I have to really work hard at getting it to go. Conclusion: Though I do like this case, the challenges to depress the volume and on/off button and the headphone jack cost this review two stars. If you don't have strong finger to push the buttons, I would find a different case. I do plan on contacting Pelican about the button issue. If anything changes I will update this review.

Awesome - the quality and innovative I used to expect from Lifeproof!
I have used lifeproof for at least four years - but since being bought by otterbox the quality is way down, customer service is worse, and they just done meet expectations. NOW, this case on the other hand reminds me of the first impression I had from my first lifeproof case years ago. Quality build, great warranty, and form and function are both better than lifeproof. Yes, there is a tiny gap between the screen, but it is a good deal less than the lifeproof and there is no rainbowing. Even better, the sound quality is literally worlds better: ear speaker, mic, and speaker phone. In the event my review changes I will update to reflect, but with a reputable company put together with their warranty and first impressions I am fairly certain my relationship with lifeproof is irretrievably broken!

Liked it at first, but it has let me down too many times
**UPDATE** I left the original review attached for transparency. While I got my first defective case replaced without issue, I'm now having difficulty replacing this one as pelican claims to have none in stock. I'm about a year after my replacement and the membrane over the home button fell off during a vacation to Florida. Furthermore, the rubber bumper around the case is separating from the case itself, and the plug that closes the headphone port has cracked and no longer keeps a seal. I've used pelican products for several years now, and this is the first time I've ever been disappointed in a product. I initially liked the case so much I recommended it to a friend, and now even he is having issues with his. This case does its job for a bit, but quits early and begins falling apart. Poorly made with sub-par materials not built to last. I would not recommend this product... -------------------------------------------------- About four months in, and I'm on my second phone case. That being said, pelican customer service really shined! They sent me a new phone case, and didn't give me any problems while working with them. I'm very impressed with pelican! Phone case, it's a lot slimmer than what I thought it would be! That being said, it protects the phone very well. I drop my phone on concrete numerous times and the phone bounces but doesn't break! Along with the construction of things I don't like, is that the screen camera lens seems scratch very easily. All or minor details, as when I took my phone out of the case my phone is still spotless! I tend to be very hard on my cases, so I expect a little wear and tear to be normal. The phone case is waterproof, and touch ID still works like a charm. Sound quality has not been affected in my Opinion, and I haven't had anybody else complain while I'm talking on the phone with them. One thing to note, is that the phone case requires an adapter when using the headphone jack. The adapter comes with the phone, but if you lose it you will be out of luck unless you contact pelican and try to obtain a new one. Overall, I recommend the phone case is a good alternative to the other ones on the market. I've use pelican products for a while, and have grown to trust them. Now on to why I had my phone replaced. After about three months of usage, the membrane covering the home button became detached from the screen protector. This allowed water to begin seeping into my phone case. I was able to catch the leak in time, as it was very minor. There was no damage with the phone, however I did get my phone out of the water until the phone Case was replaced. I contacted pelican, and they asked me to send them a picture of the damage product. After doing so they (promptly) mailed me a new phone case without question. Just like any waterproof case for electronic devices, I urge you to be careful while submerging them underwater. That being said I still think this is a very good phone case!

Best Waterproof Rugged case to date!
5 stars so far.... I have had 7, yes you heard that correctly 7 of the Dog & Bone Wetsuit Impact cases(I had a Lifeproof pos previously). D&B sent me 6 cases under warranty and they all had issues, manly with a huge space between the screen protector and the phones screen. Enter the Pelican Marine case. The screen protector rests flush with the phones screen, the case has a very solid feel to it, the volume and voice quality are great since it is directed toward the front of the case. You can also fit AFTERMARKET lightning cable for charging! Awesome right!? For your reference the opening is 15/32" (a hair under 1/2") wide by 9/32" (a hair under 1/4") tall. So far the only "negative" which is just an opinion is that it only comes in one color. FYI I paid full price for this case so this review is not biased in any way. I am a landscaper and anything I buy gets USED!!!

Love it!
Love it! Thinner & lighter than my Otterbox defender style case. Passed the submersion test just fine. People hear my phone calls. If the sound is muted at all, I haven't noticed. I take a lot of photos and videos, and, so far, they seem to be great. I do make sure to keep the covering over and around the lens clean. UPDATE: I've downgraded a star. Still like the case a lot, but I do have to talk clearly with some volume (not loud, but I cannot talk softly) for people to hear me. Works great with my bluetooth headphones, though, which I do use a lot.

Buena

The Pelican case is very durable and has stood up well

Looks great but muffles the phone
Case is waterproof but it virtually cancels all voice through the mic making phone calls impossible.
