Great replacement for older Clarion marine stereos
Great replacement stereo for my boat. I purchased this stereo to replace a Clarion XMD2 in my 2005 Sea Ray SLX. The placement of the stereo in the boat is on the passenger side and there is a wired remote on the driver's dash. There is also a remote at the rear of the boat. I wanted to purchase a stereo that I could use the existing remotes and this one worked perfectly! I had to purchase an adapter to connect the existing 6 wire remote cable to the 8 wire connection on the new stereo. I purchased the CCUMRA1 separately ($22) which worked perfectly! Also, the wire connections from the back of the XMD2 plugged right into the M606, making the installation very easy. The Bluetooth connection is great and the sound is incredible. I would recommend this to any Sea Ray owner looking to replace an older stereo.

Very happy with product.
Replaced damaged CMD4. Complete plug and play. Installed into a 2006 Mastercraft X2. All the mount holes lined up. The harness is the same. A few reviews mentioned it was hard to use/set up. I did not find this to be the case. Only had to look up how to use Bluetooth. I'll save you some time. Have your phone or other device searching before scrolling through the input menu. Then the option for Bluetooth will appear. Enter a code and your done. Note: that if your volume is all away down on your phone, it will not be loud on the stereo.

Display developed condensation and the Interface is pretty complicated
I bought this unit simply to ensure that it would fit the existing opening of my old Clarion which failed after only a few years....I also wanted wire harness compatibility with the old unit. Wouldn't you know...they changed the wire harness! After 3 months of operation I moved the boat up North from Florida. Condensation developed in the display! So much for water tight. I suspect that also killed the first unit but because it was warm down South the condensation never appeared. (Update: After a few weeks the condensation in the display has disappeared...so, in fairness, I want to point that out. It still makes me nervous that condensation appeared at all but I am hoping this occurred due to the severe climate change moving the boat from Florida to cooler Maine waters.)The unit also has a very complex user interface. Getting to all the functions is not intuitive. Even turning it off and on is confusing. They combined the power button with the source function. So, when it is off you have to remember to do a quick push to get power. If you do a long push and hold it won't power on. However, once it is on you have to do a short quick push to change the source. On the plus side, the Bluetooth functionality works great. The unit does have good sound. I saw some complaints about lack of multi zone volume. I downloaded the software but didn't install it yet. I just used the fader function to put more volume to the hardtop speakers which are weaker due to less of a cavity to amplify them. The built in Pandora feature is nice. You just hit Pandora on the Clarion unit then launch Pandora on your phone and it starts playing. Go to Bluetooth to launch other services...they are equally as easy to launch and control from your phone. I notice the sound quality on digital streaming services if far superior to listening to the radio. Plus, you can control the volume from your phone.Jury is still out on the unit's longevity but the sound is very good.

Good Head Unit But Cumbersome When Adjusting Settings
I'm not going to lie - the controls on this unit can be very confusing in terms of initial setup and adjusting settings but once I got past that, I've found I like this head unit for the most part. Only complaint I do have is the fact that you can't set volume levels for the different zones and lock the differentiation (ex. zone 2 is always +4 over zone 1, etc.). The unit only allows you to lock them at the same gain level. This is a key feature that I'm disappointed this unit is lacking; the Alpine CDA-188M this unit replaced had that capability. Having to adjust both zones independently can be a PITA at times, and unfortunately I have to go that route as the speakers on my wake tower are in one zone and the speakers in the boat are on a second zone. Using the volume lock for the two zones results in the in-boat speakers being WAY quieter than those on the tower.Outside of this limitation, I'm happy with the unit. Installation was easy and the build quality seems very good. Also purchased the wired remote for this unit but will not be installing that until I take the boat out of the water for service and cleaning in the Spring. Sound quality, once you figure out how to adjust to your liking, is just as good as the Alpine used previously. Bluetooth was easy to setup on my phone as well.

Core functionality not working since iOS 11 - four months
I purchased this unit in October for my boat to replace a Clarion head unit that had lasted about twelve years. I was able to retrofit it with an existing hardwired remote, Sirius antenna and a Clarion amp without issue. The unit has good sound and a lot of nice features. The problem is that it does not work with latest iPhone iOS 11, so essentially has not worked since the day I purchased it. It hangs when I plug in my iPhone 7. I have used a wired headphone adapter to play music to the AUX in since I got it. I wasn't going to write any early reviews as I assumed a firmware update would come (last one was February 8, 2017). I did call customer service in October and they acknowledged the problem. Now we are at January 21 and I believe that is too long to wait for a fix to core functionality, noting the our cars and various other head units all managed to support iOS 11. Wake up Clarion - the only way to combat a poor customer service record is to release products that work... If both are bad - there is not much point in buying the brand with other newer companies that appear to be taking over the Marine market.

It was easy to install
It was easy to install. Unplug my old 2001 Clarion unit and Plug in the new unit. The only issue was my 6 CD player can not be plugged into the new M606 unit. The blue tooth for both Pandora and Spotify works great and was wasy to set up. The M606 has great sound.
