Cutting edge Wifi 6 router
Intro - Setting up this device was a very straight forward. Turn it on, download an app, follow the guide and you're online. Obviously being a WiFi 6 (AX) device there is plenty to talk about when it comes to it's coverage and speed. To give a quick caveat, I'm sure this device could achieve much faster speeds with purely WiFi 6 clients. There are not many available so these tests were performed in a mixed environment. From a Apple Watch Series 3 (2.4Ghz WiFi 4 N standard) to an iPhone 11 (5Ghz WiFi 6 AX standard) and a couple of AC WiFi 5 standard laptops.Testing - when my iPhone 11 is in the same room as the Velop router it gets 705Mbps, a Lenovo laptop with an AC wifi adapter I get 866Mbps. Further away on the ground floor my iPhone gets 300-400Mbps on average, the laptop gets 400-700Mbps. The WiFi signal barely manages to go beyond our outer house walls. I am certain this is because our house is made of traditional stone on the outside and pretty solid masonry on the ground floor between rooms. Explains the above speed drop off for the iPhone. So I'll likely need a second device in/or near our conservatory to get garden WiFi. As a baseline reference; with an older Asus RT68U AC router this is significantly better coverage for a single router. Overall I am very impressed.Device Management - is a different kettle of fish. You can use a web browser and login to it. However, it's very keen you use the Linksys App instead. The app does it's job well. It's geared towards novice users who just want to set it up. Speaking of which the app device setup flow was a piece of cake. Very simple UI with minor user input, it's impressive how things have changed. The apps main purpose seems to be more about current status and info, than making any significant change to its operation. It does lack information on device connectivity speed (I had to use a separate app for testing mobile to router connection speeds). It is also missing control which of the tri-bands have specific WiFi traffic on. For instance I'd like my iPhone on one 5Ghz band at WiFi 6 speeds, the other 5Ghz band in mixed mode for WiFi 4 + 5 speeds. 2.4Ghz for any device that needs to defer to it for better range. This is technically managed by the routers own algorithms as is the channel selection for each to be broadcast. I appreciate that is a selling point of this device - self management be it a mesh setup or a single node. I just like to make my own technical decisions. Ultimately for the price of the device it does give you a very technically sophisticated device that operates very effectively. For said price, I'd have expected an expert mode, allowing me to change what I want though.Summary - I think the product itself is excellent and does exactly what I needed it to do; make sure all our devices get WiFi and the router has plenty of resources in reserve to manage all the traffic we throw at it. I did originally have the Velop WHW0303 3 pack (WiFi 5 AC Tri-band version) but wanted more wired ports for our Hive, office desktop computer etc. WiFi 6 also future proofed us and because it's physically bigger allows for more antennas for each one of the three WiFi bands. I'd like to see Apple Homekit support as the cheaper WHW0303 has it advertised as 'Coming Soon'. So I'd hope that extends to their top product too. Also expose more control in the app for the routers features.

Appalling Customer Service. By far the worst I have ever come across by a very long way. Avoid!!!
I purchased 2 of these wifi nodes in December to extend the range the Linksys mesh system that I already had in operation. One of these new nodes appeared to be very unstable and frequently dropped out of the wifi network which meant my security camera system lost connection frequently. It behaved quite erratically. At times it had a red light showing (rather than blue/connected light) even though it was clearly connected to my network. I tried all sorts of measures to make it stable. I tried my other nodes in the same location and found they all worked fine. I even placed this node right beside the parent node and found it remained unstable. I reset the node and it was still unstable. Eventually in March I contacted Linksys Technical Support to report the clearly faulty node. I was on the phone with Linksys from around midnight until after 3am!! I persisted with the call as it had been enormously difficult to contact Linksys either via online chat or phone and I had tried quite a number of times over a few weeks. The technical support guy ran through multiple tests with my node. Thank God I had plenty of equipment. During the call I had to use my phone, laptop, iPad connecting various devices and running tests for him. Eventually after 3 hrs he finally agreed that yes, my node was faulty. He explained about the replacement process and said I should try and arrange a replacement through Amazon. I contacted Amazon but they declined due to it being 3 months after purchase I think. After more contact with Linksys they agreed to replace the node themselves and said I would be sent an email with a link to get an RMA number (needed to arrange a replacement) . I had top chase this up as no email arrived. That took more days as it remained so hard to contact Linksys. Eventually a link to an RMA arrived but it didn't work !!. More attempts top contact Linksys. Infuriating!! Eventually I got the replacement node arranged and I was asked to post my faulty node back to Linksys at my expense. I suggested that I believed the postage should be at their expense and asked them to check up on this. Linksys told me the return was definitely to be at my expense. I later checked the warranty conditions and established that return of faulty goods was at their expense and sent a copy of the warranty to Linksys. I was told Linksys would check up on this. It took 7 days for Linksys to confirm that I was correct and that the return shipping would be at their expense. I had to pay and seek a refund for postage in the end. The postage refund took 5 weeks to arrive into my bank account. The faulty node arrived at Linksys on 29th March via Parcelforce. Linksys had stated I would be advised when the replacement node was being sent to me and also provide a tracking number but I did not receive any information. I contacted Linksys again on 23rd April as I had not received any information and the replacement node had not been received by me. I was told the node was delivered to me on 13th April by DHL. I emailed Linksys and re-explained that I had not received the node and that I was home all that day and that my security camera footage confirmed that there had been no visitors/couriers arrive apart from the usual postman. I also checked myself with DHL and was advised that in fact the package had been returned to the shipper (ie. Linksys) and I informed Linksys of this on 24th April. It took 6 days for Linksys to email me a response stating, "We will i investigate the case with our Shipping Department." I have made phone calls and sent many emails to Linksys and done online chats since then to try and chase this missing wifi node up. I have episodes of being left on hold for ages and ages. I have been disconnected from calls after doing periods on the phone... especially when Linksys have attempted to transfer my call internally to another office. I have even had an episode when my call was transferred a couple of times internally at Linksys after long conversations and long periods on hold and then eventually got transferred back to the first enquiry number/recorded message that I had started with nearly an hour previously. I have asked Linksys to phone me. I have asked for the contact details of their Head of Customer Services as I wish to make a formal complaint. I have asked all this several times and not received a call or contact information or advised how to lodge a formal complaint. Now, 18 days later I have received an email stating, "Please be informed that we are verifying this with Shipping department for locating the package since you didn't receive the replacement unit". Incredible!! No progress by Linksys in 18 days even though I was able to seek out and obtain the non-delivery/return top sender information directly from DHL myself nearly 4 weeks ago and on the day that I sought out the information. I didn't know if others have encountered the same appalling customer service at Linksys. I tried to check via their online forum on the Linksys website “Ask the Community”. But the forum has not been available over this period. It only has the same message for ages, “We are adding some more cool stuff to make the community experience better for you. We are truly sorry to delay the excitement but please bear with us.” There is quite a lot more that I could report about this whole saga but there is no point listing all that has happened. My experience with Linksys is the worst customer service I have ever experienced by a long way. The wifi product itself seems good...... apart from the one which was faulty. However I would strongly advise against purchasing any Linksys products unless you are simply prepared to write off the loss/expense if it is faulty as you will go insane trying to get it replaced or deal with Linksys Customer Service.

Virgin Fibre Game Changer
Update: Please be aware this ONLY works with Alexa in the United States. The rest of my original review below still holds true though.... As you can see from my photo the Linksys app itself is very easy to use to pause a connection; you just can’t say “Alexa, pause WiFi for Janes iPad” in the UK.Original Review A Virgin Fibre Hub3, now lying flat on its side in a corner on the carpet. Happily basking in its retirement as a modem. The Linksys MR7350 now sitting gracefully atop said Hub3, shining in WiFi6 Mesh glory! So we’ve had the Fibre M350 package from VM for a while now and broadband speeds were up and down and WiFi connections sketchy and terrible beyond the adjacent rooms. A real bug but never enough to quite do anything about it until the boys grew up enough to have their own tablets and xboxes. And Firesticks. None of which would reliably connect from their rooms. While searching for a solution I am full glad that I found this Linksys router.Step 1: log in to your Hub3 and set it to Modem Only mode.Step 2: connect the Linksys MR7350 to the now modem using the included cable (and correct port).Step 3: download the Linksys app on your phone and go through the easiest WiFi setup ever.Step 4: connect all your devices to your beautiful new WiFi.The router now consistently reports the full 380Mbps from the VM M350 plan which is just over average AND all 14 WiFi connected devices report SpeedTest results of 80-100Mbps throughout the house.Amazing! All the instructions from above you can find on Google. It’s the easiest setup I’ve ever gone through. Obviously all 14 devices aren’t going to get the full 80-100Mbps as the overall fibre connection is 380Mbps but it means it’s available for amazing 4K streaming on all 14 devices, if they could stream 4K..... roll on 8K then!!!!

Blisteringly fast WiFi 6 Speeds & Immense Coverage!
Like many of you, I have been debating between this product and the similarly specced Netgear Orbi WiFi 6 system. Ultimately, I decided to go with the Velop system for a couple of reasons.I liked the addition of a USB port on the Velop compared to the Orbi (Connected to a Samsung T5 SSD) and I liked idea that each node operates on an individual basis, rather than being a satellite to the main node, dedicated backhaul was not an issue as I had already decided to hard-wire the entire system. The price though was a huge factor in my decision too, purchased three nodes, a twin pack and an individual node, all for much less than the comparable Orbi system would have cost.A bit about my setup, as mentioned, I have three nodes all hard-wired throughout my house (~4000sq/ft) with Cat 8 Ethernet cables, connected to a 1Gbps Fiber Connection, an important side note is I have everything in bridge mode, as it’s all hard-wired, this removes some of the functions within the app such as device prioritisation/management, but this is not an important issue for me. I was until recently using a similar system but with Apple AirPort Extreme/Time Capsules, but had started to find that these routers were struggling with the ever increasing amount of smart devices on our network, these have proved to be a huge upgrade, not surprising though as Apple’s routers are getting fairly long in the tooth now, almost 8 years old. I still use an Apple Time Capsule hard-wired via Ethernet as a backup device. The speed and coverage this system offers is immense, as you can see from the attached Speedtest, on my iPhone 11 Pro with WiFi 6, I’m getting almost 900mbps, which is about as good as you can expect over a 1Gbps connection.Overall, I couldn’t be happier with this system, yes the buy-in cost is high, but the returns are phenomenal, especially with multiple users working from home now, every user is pretty much guaranteed 5-600mbps wherever they are in my house (~4000sq/ft) even on WiFi 5 (AX) devices, not to mention the future-proofing that these routers provide. Setup is very straightforward using the Linksys app, no complaints there, installation takes around 5 mins per node.If you’re in any doubt about this system, go for it, you will not be disappointed.Happy to answer any questions if needed.

Weak Wi-Fi Signal
I did a lot of research into the Velop mesh system and had high hopes. I opted for the the MX8400. It’s just the dual pack.PositivesThe speeds are good as I have about 1gb speeds from the provider and it did hit just over 900mb (in its own app) via other apps it was between 400-600mb (still not awful). The app is really good and the units looks the business.NegativesUnfortunately the claimed range is dreadful the house I am renting at the moment is old and made of stone with a thick stone wall running through the middle. However it’s probably less than 1500 square foot. Having set up the router (node) in the living room I expected to be blown away by the range. I wasn’t, it didn’t even extend to the kitchen. Even upon connecting the satellite node the range upstairs wasn’t great either.ConclusionIt’s a nice bit of kit but the whole point for me was range and the claim of 6000 sq.ft made me believe that it would meet my needs. It didn’t at all. It’s a shame but when you are shelling out £350 for a product you expect it to meet your minimum expectations. Maybe if I had about 4 nodes I’d have been ok but then £700 is too much to spend for my liking.*I have already started the return process
