Q: What thickness will it cut please?

I've owned one for several years now and when it finally dies I will order another straight away. 7mm walnut or rock/hard/sugar maple is the absolute maximum it will cut. You will have to go slow and steady though. It will eat through blades quite quickly with hardwoods of this thickness. 15 meters/45 foot of cuts is a good upper estimate for blade life. It is really efficient at cutting 3mm softwood like spruce. If you want to cut 5-7mm hardwood for an extended amount of time then you really need the proxxon micromot FET table saw.

its quiet and smooth but has its limitations.

quiet, smooth but it does'nt like thicker materials, saying that it was bought for making ship model planking and for that purpose i find it does a good job for the price.
