These lights look great until you install them and turn them on. I mounted them in the center of my risers on my outside stairs. when you stand at the bottom of the stairs it looks like a runway at night. Too bright and the light shoots out 90% horizontally and 10% down. Purchased the wifi dimmer and it seems to be working, but I had to dim them down to 4% to make them not obnoxious from the bottom. Now walking down the stairs, you wish there was more light. I'm committed because I drilled holes in my risers to mount them and they do look great, but I wouldn't buy them again for a stair application or maybe I would mount them on the stair stringer so the light is going across the stair.

First the positive... these are high-quality lights. The metal is nicely finished and have a nice weight to them and feel like quality. Now the negative. These were described as down lights but the lights actually shine straight out and not down. They have a small lid on the light but the lid doesn't come down far enough and the light is projected straight out from the housing. So just be warned when installing these lights that the light will not shine down as described but will, in fact, shine straight out. Had I known this I would have installed the lights totally in different locations to project the light in the proper location. Now it is to late as the holes have been drilled in my deck. I would have appreciated someone telling me this before I purchased the lights.

Good lights. I used these in a slightly different location than stair treads. I used them in a shower niche. I’d rate them 4.5 stars. While multi colored, the individual LED’s don’t completely blend the colors, resulting in a rainbow look at the edge of the light pattern. Looks kinda cool, but it’s something you should know. They don’t shine pure white. It’s white in the middle, and rainbow on the edges.

Edit: after a year almost half were burned out.Nice little lights. I installed 2 on each step up to my deck and they do a good job of lighting the step. The hood over the lights prevent glare and the steps are well lit.The instructions say to use an 18mm drill which I found to be too large and the lights were loose in the hole. I experimented on a scrap 2x4 and found a 5/8" bit to be a good fit. You need to push the connector through the hole but the light fits snug and stays put.

I have it attached to a wireless wall outlet controller that Alexa turns on/off on a schedule. Conveniently, the lights turn on to the last color I had them on each time. The remote works incredibly well, as it's an RF (radio frequency) so doesn't need to be pointed at the control, which is hidden up out of view for aesthetic reasons. Totally worth the money. The cords and connectors are a well made plastic thread/screw type, and the heads are metal with an "eyelid" type of design so light shines down.

Pros: bright, small, waterproofCons: requires 18mm hole for installation, that's not a drill size ez to get here in America so you are gonna have to order a drill bit from online. Also no timer or photo sensor so this has to be hooked to a switched outlet or you have to have a photo sensor/ timer installed to control the outlet.

The lights are beautifull and working well. I would buy them again, the only thing I found strange was that the power supply came as if it had been opened before, hence the 3 stars. I hope they are longlasting, so far they look beautiful.

Great bang for the buck. These were easy to install and wire together. I like the fact that they are partially shielded, but even so they are surprisingly bright and have no problem illuminating the step. They look great during the day and work great at night.
