Mediocre quality
The first unit was bent and the fins were damaged. I was sent a replacement right away it was not the greatest quality but usable. The quick connect fitting are poor quality so if you buy this radiator order new fittings from the start. Overall it is an okay product.

Fit perfectly
2008 Mercury Mountaineer AWD 4.0 V6. Direct replacement. Was able to remove old one and put this one into place without removing the fan clutch/blade, but did require some creative maneuvering with a helper. Transmission line removal from old radiator was the biggest issue…get a removal tool!!!

OE Fit and Appears to Be High Quality
Installed in 2006 Mountaineer AWD with the 4.0 V-6Despite Amazon's fitment guide saying this would not fit the Mercury, it does say it fits a similarly equipped Explorer.I checked with both Spectra's website and a friend with a 2006 Explorer who installed the same item prior to ordering. No issues and no modifications required: it bolts in exactly as the one I removed. The Spectra Premium line has a very good reputation so I have high hopes it will be durable. While it was more expensive than other aftermarket units, it costs far less than OE.Its general build quality and fittings are much better than the lesser aftermarket units which is money well spent in my mind.

7 years, 100k miles so far : Fit nicely on my 2006 Exploder V8
9/1/2022 Update : 7 years and 100000 miles later, still going. My son is using the Explorer now. Sits outside instead of garaged is the only difference. So far so good, LOL.8/6/2018 Update : 3 years and 50000 miles later, no problems to report!!!Fit nicely on my 2006 Exploder V8. The previous radiator was installed in 2010, and was a cheaper $80 one. (It leaked after doing a simple coolant exchange). Anyhow, this one fit perfect, and it took me two leisure evenings to do the job. One day to take everything apart, and clean/degrease the parts good. Radiator arrived the next day, and I dropped it in and reassembled. (Prime 1 day shipping was $13.99) I've put probably 2000 miles on this radiator already, hot temps, air conditioning, towing, etc..There is a good Youtube video out there on how to change this radiator. Except I took the extra steps of removing the air intake box, and battery / battery tray. It seemed to make things easier getting the radiator in and out. I went to the Ford dealer and got two gallons of genuine Motorcraft Gold coolant, it was about $15 each. The old coolant was orange colored, previous owner must have put in Zerex or something else?

Radiator
Very well made radiator I had to replace one I brought here from a different vendor and manufacturer that failed at 2 yrs just under 2 yrs the bottom housing split , The sell has yet to respond to any calls letters or e/m I had that one installed at my Son in Laws Mercury dealership that was the 1st and last time i had any response from the seller was it installed by at certified garage ? I sent the bill with the letter head of one of the largest dealerships on the E coast. that was 2 months now not a word.. But this is much heaver and better made higher quality radiator then the last one I could see and feel the difference when I replace that failed one myself and had them side by side with the busted one a few weeks back.I'm not sure how this vendor would be with a warranty ? But I know they can't be any worse and I know this is a much better quality unit all the way around I'd say get you Ford explorer or Mercury Mountaineer radiator here as they seem to have issues anyways and this Spectra is very well made.

Great so far!!
I was originally sent radiator that wasn’t a Spectra Premium but in their defense this radiator has the exact same part number. The seller was great and immediately had the right one shipped out to me. So far it’s been great. I went with the Spectra Premium because of reviews that said if you don’t get a Motorcraft OEM then this is the one to get. Unfortunately I worked for hours to get the tranny lines disconnected and couldn’t so I took off the connectors and used the existing ones and let some thread sealant set up over night and 0 leaks!

So much for state-of-the-art packaging?
I received the package a day early appeared to be no exterior damage to the box but inside as you can see by the pics the radiator was rattled out of the styrofoam and left unprotected there's no styrofoam on the sides other than the corners of the top and bottom caps and if this thing took that much rattling and it has plastic tanks I'm not sure I should even install itAnd no copy of the warranty was included you have to request that separatelyWhen i contacted Spectra their reply was to eyeball it and see if there is any damage .I also asked for a copy of the warranty which is not included , but must be included was not furnished on request.Im alot less confident about this purchase now than i was when i purchased it.
