Misunderstood - The Brian Molko Story

I've been a long time fan of Brian Molko and Placebo since the debut album and am always looking for more things to add to my collection. I was really excited to find this book and ordered it straight away. It's actually a really nice book, bigger than I had thought with a really nice glossy cover and definitely full of details on Brian and the band's rise to fame. Starting out from the years prior to the band meeting and forming the band, it gives you some insight on them as people (mainly Brian) and how it all began with so much little known information. I am very pleased with this book and haven't been able to put the book down since it's arrival. I'm almost finished with it and it hasn't even been 48 hours. This just shows that it has managed to keep my attention which is a hard task to do. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is a fan of Brian and Placebo.

This is a competent and thorough bio, well researched, full of great trivia. Not quite sure if the song interpretations are the author's own or from the band members, though since most everything else seems well documented, I suppose she had some valid reference for the song meanings too. I appreciated the mention of Molko's side projects, many of which I was never aware of, and most of which are available to view on YouTube. I did appreciate the mature attempt at insight into the facts and events in Molko's life and the proliferation of quotes throughout. Enjoyable and kept my interest overall. I would recommend it to fill in the gaps or as a first exposure to Placebo.

If you’re looking for personal stories regarding the singer of Placebo, not much is revealed in this book. The wildest story had to do with him being able to out drink Marilyn Manson basically.

There's nothing wrong with self-publishing and there is a lot of information in here that's fun to know (assuming it's true; a self published biography doesn't come with any kind of guarantee...I believe the author got the information from interviews, but I'm not fact checking it). The problem is that the author clearly does not have anyone to edit and has not taken creative writing courses. The writing jumps from one time to another and back without any purpose, making it difficult to follow. I'd highly recommend an official creative writing course.

This is one of the best rock bios I've ever read. This is probably one of the few sources for learning of Brian Molko's genesis as a performer. This is a good read and a good writer.
