Morike Lieder

I'm thrilled to have this CD of singers I was in school with and our teacher John Wustman, who is the pianist!

Hugo Wolf's Mörike-Lieder marked the composer's great creative breakthrough and remain an outstanding example of the melding of text and music. I bought this CD at a time when it was the easiest way to get the complete set (plus a few that had not been recorded prior to this) and have found the performances to be interesting and expressive. Frauke May is a mezzo-soprano, so the lighter songs might be more enjoyable in a performance by a lighter soprano, but the singer and pianist do justice to the full set of songs, and for the price this is a wonderful find.
