I used this on my 2001 Ford Explorer 4.0L Eddie Bauer Ed. The instruction sheet was for a different model, but this doesn't really cause an issue, as the process is a simple one.The reason I deducted two stars is because on my engine, there are two vent tubes, one being on the passenger side of the vehicle. The instructions mentioned a possible second tube and said that you would have to drill a hole in the intake tube to allow for its connection. The pictures they gave showed the second hose on the driver's side. As it was, the hose on mine needed to connect at the exact place that the support bracket must rest.In the end, I had to relocate the bracket, drill a hole in the brand new intake tube, and then--seeing as both the intake and vent tubes are hard plastic, although the vent tube is flared to allow for connection to a flexible nipple that was on the factory set-up--I had to use plumbers tape on the vent tube to seal the joint as well as possible.K&N could solve the entire issue if they made a different kit for my model instead of making the customer use an ill-fitting one. That would cost them more money, though, so they won't.The setup works great, as one can expect from a K&N. However, as a mechanic, I've installed plenty of these for customers and never encountered this issue before. They shouldn't sell a kit for an engine model that it wasn't made to fit.

My car had a second vacuum hose that if using the tube that came with it would have ended up being on top of the clamp that went onto the maf sensor. But i just reused the old tube and hooked the filter onto the maf sensor as its supposed to be and it works great. The engine sounds a lot better but the power gain is to small to really notice but its definantly an improvement.

I have a 2001 Ford Ranger. I installed this system about a week ago and I love it. First off it was easy to install. It took about an hour and a half. The instructions were easy to follow. I can tell there is a significant difference in the power. It sounds great and looks great. The take off power is incredible. My only regret is not buying this sooner. I was getting about 16 mpg before and now I get about 19-20 mpg. So that is a huge plus. So I highly reccomend this system.

I had it installed in less than an hour and a half, got it on the road and immediately felt a difference in the horse power, not to mention the thrum of the Engine when you accelerated quickly. Will give another report in a month on if it improved gas mileage or not!

Fantastic product! It took about 2 hours to install for me since I'm no certified mechanic. I hopped in my Ranger and went for a test run, I have never felt so much bolt on power like this before. Perfect for the little extra get up and go to tow my boat around. Highly recommend this product to anyone looking to buy it!

Beautiful fitment, sounds awesome, and amazing power gains, really makes a difference. I would say the hp gains states are def correct, I may have experienced more than the stock truck would due to my computer tune I'm running but really an awesome mod for the 4.0L!

bolts right in, dont have a dino to check to see if it does what it says. but its a little pricey for diff it does make

Excellent buy! I'm going to get one for my Eclipse also. It was easy to install and increased my mileage by 1.5 mpg on the highway and almost 3 in-town. I went from a 16mpg in-town to almost 19, and 19mpg on the highway to 20.5mpg average. I've driven 3000 miles since the install. I would (and will) buy another one.
