No the lids do not fit securely. If the container tips over the flour, sugar or liquids leak

BPA is used as a plasticizer in the molding process for polycarbonate. If you are looking at a polycarbonate Cambro container, it most likely contains BPA. Polypropylene doesn't require BPA.
