Consistent oxygen saturation readings + VERY accurate pulse readings…
The whole idea behind an oximeter is to see how well your heart is actually pumping oxygen around your body. You just clip it onto a finger to get a reading of blood oxygen saturation as well as your pulse. It’s straightforward to use and easy to read the results which will appear on the illuminated screen after a few seconds. I did try the device on my toes to see if it would work but wouldn’t recommend using it like this as the device needs to make proper contact in just the right spot to be able to give a reading and it struggles with toes (due to size and shape).I am not a medical professional so please do your own research but from what I’ve gathered, a blood saturation level above 95% is okay IF you’re a healthy individual without any medical conditions (above 98% is best); if you have a medical condition or fall into the elderly category, a lower reading might be fine and normal for you. The device will flash an alarm-shaped icon on the screen if either your oxygen saturation or pulse is out of the programmed range. I have a low resting heart rate which is very normal for me but obviously gets flagged up constantly by the device; no way to customise this on the device but if you know what’s “normal” for you, the alert is no big deal. Not sure if the average healthy person outside of a hospital setting really needs an oximeter unless they have a specific health condition that needs monitoring, but I think it's become more common to own one now with the spread of Covid. Plus it could be useful tool to help you keep an eye on an aspect of your overall health and provide you with a reference point to help spot changes or cause and effect relationships - just like a Fitbit, blood pressure monitor or body fat scales. I don’t know how accurate any of these devices are (and I imagine they’re a source of annoyance to a few too many GP’s) but we only get one body and I’d rather have some insight into my health and fitness, than none at all.In any case, the device has given me fairly consistent blood saturation readings (cold fingertips or a cold room can give a lower than usual result) but my pulse readings in particular have been extremely accurate (this is something I was able to verify on other devices and take manual readings too); miles more accurate than my Fitbit during workouts if I stop for a few seconds to take a reading. I actually got the device primarily for the pulse rate monitor so I’m really happy with this aspect. It’s a nice looking product, compact and looks to be well made; you can read the screen in a dark room. The only thing that would make it better is an audible beep when the readings are available as sometimes it takes longer than a few seconds and then you have to just watch the screen - not twiddle your thumbs - and wait. Uses 2x AAA batteries (not included) and the quick auto-off feature means you get excellent battery life.

Sturdy build, works well, easy read display
Digital Fingertip Pulse OximeterThis little device gives a good indication of how your lungs and pulse are performing. Just switch it on and pop it over a finger, in just a few seconds the data is displayed on the small LED screen. This Fingertip Pulse Oximeter provides an indication of your current pulse rate, along with how much oxygen saturation is contained within your blood. This oximeter is invaluable for monitoring your blood oxygen levels when suffering from an illness that targets the lungs, much like the recent virus outbreak. It appears that healthy oxygen levels should be above 92% according to the NHS website. Measurements should be taken at rest as activity will affect the readings. This device does seem to be well made and appears to be pretty accurate. As a family we each tested our oxygen/pulse settings, we all received different readings, but each persons own readings were pretty consistent over several tests. For such a small unit it is quite chunky and is no lightweight. The jaws are spring loaded so squeeze them open to insert a finger, then the jaws will close tightly. Press the power button, within a few seconds the results are shown clearly on a small display screen. The display can be rotated giving a choice of 2 reading positions, this is handy if testing yourself or another person making it easier to read the results. Power is via 2 x AAA batteries (not supplied) which should provide up to 50 hours use. There is a supplied lanyard that can be attached to the oximeter for convenience. This is certainly a handy device to have in our household as both my wife and I were severely affected by the recent virus, this will enable us to keep an eye on our blood oxygen levels.CONTENTS:1 x Oximeter1 x Lanyard1 x instruction GuideThank you for reading my review, I hope you have found it helpful.

Good, Easy to read
This pulse oximeter was easy to use. It arrived quickly. I took it out of the box. Included was the pulse oximeter, a grey lanyard so you have the option to wear it and instructions. The pulse oximeter requires 2 AAA batteries which were not provided in the box. On inserting these, it was actually a bit confusing. I put them in the right way. With the flat side facing the spring and the bulbed side facing the other way. It did not work that way for me. Took them out and had a look. There were pictures at the bottom where the batteries go that said it was the complete opposite to the way batteries are supposed to go. And hey presto it worked! Maybe I have a defect but at least it works. This product has been so handy. Especially at the moment due to the covid pandemic, we've been advised to get a pulse oximeter and keep an eye on SpO2 levels when unwell. This is much better than the other one I had previously. The screen was dark and the numbers in red. This screen is bright and numbers black. Much better to see clearly although the heart rate is quite small to read. It's still okay.A very good product. Currently priced at £16.98 which does seem a little overpriced in my opinion for the one that I received. But would still be good value for money.
