This plaid shirt is so warm and soft, you'll want to wear it indoors and out - from the first Frost to the last snowfall. We start with chunky, 7 oz. Heavyweight cotton flannel, then boulder-wash it and brush both sides for extraordinary softness. Plus it is double-layered throughout the forearm, back yoke and front placket. The oxbow can be worn tucked in, and is long enough to be worn outside the waistband as a lightweight shirt jacket. Made from 100 percent cotton. See below for additional information.Available in the original buffalo check plaid, created by Woolrich in 1850.

too big, froopy shape, soft 100% cotton, am returning it.
I got a Large bc I am 6'4" but I am skinny. I am swimming in this thing. I would be hesitant to exchange it for a medium even. Also, "Woolrich" doesn't mean it's wool. It's 100% cotton. I didn't realize that until I got it. It was really soft but the cut is froopy.

it looks great, but then I started using it as my ...
I think it's worth the price. it's very thick and warm. I originally got it as a dressy shirt in Alaska. it looks great, but then I started using it as my "working outdoors" shirt. it's survived many projects on my SUV and all of my adventures in the woods and still has the color and style to wear out to a decent restaurant afterwards. it is also very soft so the wife likes to snuggle into it (after being cleaned of course) equally at home on the couch watching Netflix or hiking through the woods to go fishing.

Love it
I really like this shirt. It’s quite heavyweight, perfect for winter, but not quite a shirt jacket. I am between a M and a L and, based on the reviews, purchased the medium. It fits great, even after washing (cool water, air dry). I’ve bought several other shirts from other manufacturers this winter and this one seems so much heavier, substantial, even luxurious. I on,y wish I could afford to buy more Woolrich shirts!

Old School Size and Fit - Not Skinny / Athletic Fit
I ordered two of these shirts based on others reviews. One XL and one XXL. I am 6 feet 2 inches and 250(ish) pounds. The XL fits good. The XXL was way too big and I sent it back and got a refund fine. I would consider it a utility piece of clothing. If you are looking for a fitted shirt, this one is not it. Some say this fabric is scratchy, but I don't notice it. It is a good sturdy, high quality shirt. It is not like a super soft fleece. I have had those kinds of flannels and they wear out in the washing machine from just washing them. I personally like the more sturdy construction of this shirt. The forearm is actually double layered. This shirt should last a long time.

huge and swimming in sleeves
Very heavy and huge! I am usually somewhere between a Medium and Large (Medium in length and sleeves, Large around the chest and gut), but these Mediums are massive. Even more annoying, especially if you are short and stocky like me, are the billowy, ballooned sleeves--the area from the shoulder to about the forearm flairs out big time and then tapers back in at the wrist. There is also only one button on each cuff, not another going up the forearm, leaving a large gap exposing your arm and also making a comically flappy sleeve even more voluminous. Unless you have enormous triceps, you will look goofy in this. Definitely would sweat in this thing (I bought for Chicago winters), that classic Woolrich weightiness.

In-Between Sizes?
Just a caution to those ordering this shirt who are "in-between" sizes. Sometimes a LARGE will fit me and other times it takes an EXTRA LARGE, depending on who manufactures the shirt. I guessed wrong on this one! The LARGE I ordered is a little bit too small so I ended up ordering an EXTRA LARGE and it fits great. The quality of the shirt is fine and I like it, but I can only use it if I leave it unbuttoned.

Really baggy
When I pulled this shirt out of the box I could tell that it was going to be way too baggy and I was right it felt like it was billowing around me I ordered a small. I am 5'5 ant 125# so I'm on the small and slim side so if you are around my size I would look for a different shirt a little more trim fit unless you want to wear this as a jacket.

Great functional flannel; not a fashion statement
This shirt is cut somewhat "squat." Maybe this is more of a traditional fit, and I am just used to more modern/athletic cuts. For me, the tail is a little short and the torso is on the boxy side. The sleeves are long enough, but the forearm area is slightly baggyLike others have said, the quality is top-notch and the cotton is very soft. If you are looking for a more fitted shirt, you may want to order a size down in a long.

Very thick but beware of fit!
Very thick wool, excellent for winter. I have sensitive skin and have a history of exma so the wool is slightly itchy on the skin.Note that this isn't a fitted shirt, this is a work flannel to flannel allowing you to move freely so it can leave quite a bit of room, especially if you're on the slim side. Also bigger than a US medium. Nonetheless the colour and style is excellent and the buttons are also solid.Overall well received.

You may want to size down
This shirt fits on the side of boxy. It works well for layering or if you're a larger person; if you're on the slimmer side you might want to size down. Other than sizing, it's a fantastic shirt. It's warm and durable; there are elbow patches in the same pattern as the shirt, so it may not be noticeable immediately. The shirt is also made out of cotton, so you may want to look at the same shirt in wool if you want something even warmer.

Great Flannel, a Little on the Loose Side
Now this is flannel. Nice soft, heavy material, very well made. Fits a little large (I'm already a small so couldn't really size down), but as another reviewer said makes it great for layering (perfect over a hoodie), and personally I prefer a little bagginess in a heavy flannel like this. Shrunk a little in the wash (purposely ran it on warm water then high dry to shrink) which snugged it up a little.

Good reliable brand for over a century
My husband has so many of these in different colours and loves them to death. They hold up to a lot of abuse and they are worth the investment, especially on a good deal. He also has a couple of the wool ones which are heavier and warmer.
