UNIQUE COFFEEMAKER AND THE BEST
I've been using the Senseo coffeemaker off and on for 20 years. Every time I stray, I return. This coffeemaker is unlike any other. It uses a different method, and each cup is topped with a layer of crema. I have one cup of the dark roast in the morning and drink the decaf all day long. The flavor is so rich that it has spoiled me for all other coffees. It even stands up well as iced coffee. But although it's rich, it's very smooth and not bitter. The profile of the coffeemaker does make it impossible to use a latte mug. But I bought a pretty little Turkish coffee pot that works great. Yes, the layer of crema holds up when transferred from the pot to the mug. No, it's not a particularly quiet machine. But the sound is not annoying and lasts for maybe a minute. Small price to pay for the best cup of coffee you can find.

Reliable Machine for Quality Coffee with Tasty Crema on Top
I love the new Senseo machine! It makes such good flavorful coffee for an instant coffee maker. The quality of the coffee surprises me almost every time. I drink the dark roast flavor and it brews a hot cup with a nice frothy layer that they call crema (which I'm a big fan of). I heard Senseo is one of the most popular brands in Europe so I was excited to try it. I'm glad that I bought the machine for myself. Previously I was drinking Nespresso and I notice how much cheaper the Senseo pods are per pod. It's practically two cups for the price of one and even better quality coffee. Plus the machine is way cheaper than the $500+ machines that brew a crema layer. I care about the environment so I feel good drinking Senseo because the pods are non-metal, non-plastic and eco-friendly. All around I would recommend the new Senseo machine and coffee pods.

We had a Senseo several years ago and loved it! Along came the Keurig cup craze and ...
Thank you SENSEO.. you came back! This review is for the new 2018 Senseo with 40.8 oz water reservoir. We had a Senseo several years ago and loved it! Along came the Keurig cup craze and we bought one, and got rid of our Senseo. Over time we really missed the wonderful little cup of coffee with the rich crema on top. We put a sprinkle of sugar/cinnamon on the crema. That's what we missed most with Keurig, which makes a good cup of coffee, but zero rich crema. The sugar-cinnamon just disappeared. We realized Senseo was discontinued in USA, and tried a Nespresso for the last year. The Nespresso just never got hot (instant read temp around 115 deg F. The Senseo instant read is around 148-150 F. And honestly, Nespresso coffee tastes overly strong and bitter. And expensive. Be aware, the SENSEO single pod makes a small cup of coffee, but it is the perfect size for a cold Pacific Northwest afternoon, or anytime to relax. That's the usage model we use for our SENSEO, a relaxing PERFECT small cup of coffee. (Note: We have a percolator electric pot connected to a WEMO power outlet, controlled by an Amazon ECHO.. Alexa, turn on the coffee! For our morning coffee. The SENSEO is fine, if you want a small cup. We are soooo glad they brought the SENSEO back, and it is just like we loved.

While the Philips-made HD20 was a little better, I am glad to see a new one back and much better than those made in China.
If you cannot find an original Senseo by Philips machine, or if yours is not working well anymore or a replacement price is too high, this machine is the next best thing. It is not quite up to the original in that the coffee comes out less foamy. To me, the temperature seems lower and the foam definitely does not last quite as long. Still it is better then the made-in-China ones they sold in more recent years. This machine is made in Poland and sports a model number that is behind that of my old Senseo, namely HD 7815/65, nor 7820/70. By default it brews relatively strong cups of coffee because the fill level is relatively low. Its instruction booklet does not tell how to adjust this level, but it can be done in the same manner as on the HD7820.Here is how its done: 1) unplug; 2) Hold in the left and right side buttons when you plug machine back in--it should immediately show a solid light; 3) click right button more than once for a noticeable increase, or left button for a decrease; 4) Turn off. One difference between the new and old versions is the new sports a pod holder with a smaller outlet hole. Maybe this is how they get hotter coffee--keep it from draining a fast. I still don't find it to be as hot as my old Philips, and again the foam does not last as long. I know there had been a huge recall over potentially exploding boilers from the Poland factory just prior to production moving to China. While the odds were extremely low, perhaps lawsuits or regulations have kept them from going back to the same heat level as back then. It is hotter than their subsequent China-made models. If this was truly back to the original, the result would be a fives star. The coffee is better and much cheaper than Kcups. While the selection is less, we have the brand we like--Melitta medium roast--and use it all the time. Availability has not been a problem through Amazon or local Walmarts. So bravo to Senseo for bringing back a good thing.

Favorite coffee maker
This was my favorite coffee maker in Germany and after living here for several years I decided to purchase this severely overpriced product. I brought a good amount of pods with me because they’re not easily available but the flavor of the coffee is great and I prefer it over my nespresso most days. I also love that the pods are fully compostable and environmentally friendly. I hesitated for a while because if it broke there wouldn’t be a valid warranty on it but eventually decided it’s worth it. I’ve had it for a couple of months and so far it’s been working great. It does sometimes leak but usually only if the coffee pad doesn’t lie completely flat in the holder, also make sure to press the seal down tightly.

Since a trip to Paris in 2004 where I had the pleasure of discovering Senseo machine and coffee, I wanted one. My first one I bought through the U.S and paid a lot but it lasted me 10 years. I was the only one using it so it did last long. Then when it gave up, I bought another one through a boutique in Vancouver, great machine again but now we were 3 using it so it lasted a bit less. When I saw this one with the XL water tank I decided to buy it and the coffee taste better, don't know why but it does. It's also very hot and I love that. This is a great machine. I hope it lasts long. No other pods system machin, equals Senseo even if the brand is less known. I wish pods were available in Canadian store everywhere but it's not. Keurig, Bosh, Tassimo doesn't even come close to it, not even Nespresso. Also Senseo pods are like tea bags and bio-degradable, no plastic at all. It is the best of the best.

This North American version of the classic Senseo coffee maker that has been popular in Europe for over ten years is exactly what we have been waiting for. It was unfortunate when Phillips / Senseo stopped making a 110v version of this machine about six years ago, and our last one died unexpectedly a few weeks ago. It was therefore with high hopes that we purchased this new model, and our hopes have been met and exceeded. This coffee maker, while utilizing older Senseo design and technology, provides the perfect cup of coffee with a good amount of foam on top. I can only hope that the price comes down in the future, as this version is unfortunately 3 times more expensive than a similar model in Europe. Nevertheless, it is worth it to have great coffee that is inexpensive and quick, again.

My husband is from Holland and one of ghe things he missed the most was his Phillips Senseo machine. Happy to have found a North American version. Surprised him for Christmas. Easy to use and makes a perfect cup of espresso based coffee. We don't like machines that use plastic or aluminum pods. This uses compostable pods which are actually cheaper than those used by Keurig, Tassimo or Nespresso. This makes a consistent, delicious dcoffee every time. No more complaining that coffee here is not as good as his old machine.
