Sony SRSZR7 Hi-Resolution Wireless Speaker with Bluetooth/Wi-Fi

I am an aspiring minimalist. The item that I want to replace is my LG sound bar with sub woofer. There's absolutely nothing wrong with my sound bar. I just don't like that I have two devices, just to output good sound. I was hesitating on replacing my sound bar for the Sony SRSZR7, due to lack of optical input. I'm glad that my 2014 Sony LEDTV has HDMI ARC. Since this item supports ARC, I took a chance and bought this unit. As soon as I connected this speaker, sound worked right away. I plugged the HDMI cable on the TV's HDMI ARC input. Here's a breakdown of my review.PROS:* HDMI ARC support* Small unit, packing enough power* Bluetooth connectivity* Speaker turns-on automatically, when I turn-on the TV (I have a Sony LEDTV, if that makes any difference)* SongPal App to manage the speakerCONS:* I can't seem to adjust the bass, which packs a punch. Just don't want to disturb my neighbors* Voice / conversations on TV is not crystal clear, just good enough* Can't seem to upgrade firmware via network (wired &/or wireless)* If you have your TV on for awhile, the speaker turns-off on its own* Streaming music via my computer, over the network is buggyI'm behind on firmware update, so I'm not sure if the latest firmware will fix my problem. Since I'm having issues upgrading the firmware over the network, I'll have to try the USB upgrade. I'll update this review, once I'm on the latest firmware. Overall, I love this speaker. I'm glad to get rid of my sound bar with sub woofer.

I am a big fan of Sony, and this time Sony didn't let me disappoint again. No doubt that this speaker has the best design and build quality among all other speakers I have had. You don't expect a relatively small speaker like that have wide sound field and deep bass, but it actually did; I was really impressed when first heard to it.Also it's easy to connect with Bluetooth, wifi, USB-A cable, and aux cable. Just notice that if you connect with Bluetooth using a device that does not support LDAC (a tech that allow device to transmit 3 times more data via Bluetooth than it normally does.), your lossless music will be compressed to lower bit rate. So if you expect good sound quality, connect using other method or use a LDAC supported device (for example: NW-ZX2, NW-WM1A, etc)

Bought this for my TV and to use with my smartphone to play music around the house. But for about $300 I expected much more impressive sound considering the size and weight of the speaker. Since the sound is far inferior to many other bluetooth speakers that cost less I will have to send this thing back. The volume is surprisingly low and the Hi-Res sound, well Since I can get much better sound out of cheaper speakers then I don't see what that means! Sort of makes me feel I'm paying for technology that isn't giving me good sound in this model.

Cleaner looking than average alternative (computer speakers)Sony's hi-res products is last and only audio devices I'd buy. Far better than everyone else (bose, beats...) nothing sound the same once used.The APP along with wifi & Bluetooth audio is a great bonus.

The Sony SRSZR7 is a very capable unit. It has some weight for a small speaker. The rubber feet help keep it from vibrating whatever it is placed on. For my application it works very well. It's used in our camper bedroom in close quarters and in the living room with good coverage for TV or movies. The sound is very well balanced and powerful for such a small unit. I wouldn't expect this to power your living room at concert levels but low to moderate volumes work well. Dialog is clear and unrestrained. I have it connected to a sony blueray player and a samsung TV. The TV does not have an ARC connection but the Anynet+ function handles volume and powering on and off. I wish they included a digital or optical input for non ARC tvs. My only real complaint is that it will switch off of the auxiliary input when pausing and resuming a movie. Easily switched back with the source button or Songpal app. Hope this helps someone interested in this speaker.

Excellent built quality, you can take the grill easily and look very nice, not so much power, good sound but not enough volume like a bose solo 5, very practical as a center channel, hdmi arc is the best feature in this speaker, its turns automatically when i turn on and off my samsung tv i loved that, the app is very easy to configure to cast directly and easy to add more speakers to the house.

Yes I have duly received Sony SRSZR7 Hi-Resolution Wireless Bluetooth Speaker with much excitement.However soon I found that the speaker unit would NOT charge battery and only operates when it is connected to the power.It seems very odd to learn that you must have have power to play bluetooth speaker which I never anticipated.Furthermore if it is the case Amazone should advertise that this unit only works with when it is connected to the power.I would NOT choose this model if it works only when it is connected to the power. Much disappointed.

Sound quality isn't bad. The network connection is never maintained, and so you always need to go through setup for this speaker every time you want to listen. Also, the app that you use to setup this speaker is terrible.
