Civilized Coffee Instant Decaf Coffee Powder, 5 oz

Instant coffee and I haven't exactly been the best of friends. Every brand I've ever tried has left me with this lingering, unpleasant aftertaste that just ruins the whole experience. So, when I picked up this particular instant coffee, I didn't exactly have high expectations. But to my utter surprise, I was completely blown away! This instant coffee has become my absolute go-to for those crazy mornings when the thought of grinding beans and brewing a cup seems like a monumental task. So far, I've tried three different flavors from this company: 1) Cold Brew Coffee Granules Medium Dark Roast, 2) Decaf Granules, Medium Dark Roast Gourmet Coffee, 3) Colombian Coffee Classic Roast, and all of them have been amazing. I honestly don't have a favorite. Noteworthy is the texture: The decaf is a very fine grind that easily dissolves (even when added to a milk frother). In contrast, the Colombian coffee is a lot coarser. It still dissolves well, though, but it has blocked my frother wheel the first time I added it. It's easily remedied, though -- I just add it slowly with the frother already whirling. Overall, I am very happy with all three flavors!

I have had both their coffee and tea, caffeinated and decaf and all have been excellent.

I ordered this decaf just to try & was delighted that it was such a rich flavor. I am ordering more. Just wish it came in a larger size.

I sometimes get an urge for a cup of decaf in the evening. Normally I go through the same morning ritual except I’m using decaf beans. I ordered this to try after reading some articles about the improvement made in the instant coffee products. It tastes OK I guess. It’s not horrible but it didn’t exactly bowl me over either. For a quick decaf fix it works OK. Not bad, not great, but not bad……

I LOVE THIS COFFEE! I have never tasted a decaf before that didn’t taste like decaf!!!

I'm shocked at the percentage of four- and five-star reviews for this "coffee." I have to conclude that all those people aren't aware of what good coffee is supposed to taste like. Yes, instant coffee is different (boy, is it ever). But "Civilized Coffee" would have you believe that they've found the magic formula to make great instant coffee. They haven't. Not even close. But I wondered, so I decided to try it. Total waste of money, as this isn't returnable. This has that peculiar aftertaste that all instant coffee has. Their using supposedly superior beans makes no difference. If you love good coffee don't come anywhere near this stuff.

Have been drinking this for a couple years since I got tired of making my pour over coffee every morning. I drink this plus the caffeinated version and completely satisfied with the taste. It dissolves immediately when you put the water on it. My girlfriend doesn’t care for the taste, but she loves, dark roast anyway. It’s a bit on the pricey side, but works for me. It’s great for camping and especially backpacking.

If you’ve navigated to this product you probably are moving away from caffeinated coffee just like I have. The varieties at the supermarket like Nescafé are ok but I wanted something with a bit more flavor like home brew. I used to grind my own coffee beans and made very rich flavorful coffee. But as I’m sensitive to caffeine I predominantly drink decaf now. This has a very rich and bold flavor and dissolves well. I suppose I may start to grind decaffeinated coffee beans at some point but this stuff is just so easy and has a consistently nice flavor, it may be a while before I do so. I’ve ordered several times and have not been disappointed.
