I needed something to fit onto a rail that was 3 inch wide, this product stated it was wide enough but it is not. The gap between the two pieces is 3 inches and when you add the silver wedge piece that takes up about 1/3 inch and the screw does not have threads on the end so another 1/4 inch is lost. I had to pry off the silver wedge and take off the screw piece just to get it to fit onto a 3 in rail. It is just sitting there with no clamp attached. I would not recommend this product and I do not want to waste anymore time trying to return it and find another one that might fit.

This clamp worked out great for me. I wanted something that would clamp onto the top of my solid vinyl privacy fence. I have a Hummingbird feeder hanging from it and it supports it well.

Didn't work on my new deck rail because 2x4 was not oriented properly...but otherwise would have worked well.
