What did I get? A pretty great alternator!
Just got this today from Amazon. Box is beat up and alternator was wrapped in paper. Upon inspection, the alternator is coated in dust and debris and looks like it might be a swap job. It does say, Denso on it, so there's that. But I'm kind of nervous about this thing now. I'm going to take it to a chain auto store and see if they can bench test it. Maybe I'm just over thinking this whole thing?Edit on 6/30/22:Good things do come in bad packaging.Despite the horrible packaging and dusty, kinda used appearance, I went ahead and threw the thing in my 08 Odyssey EX-L anyway. Took me most of the day because I went slow to make sure I did it right and didn't miss a single nut, bolt, or electrical connector. I cleaned things up while I was in there and checked for oil leaks. A few days ago, I replaced the spool valve which is notorious for leaking into the alternator and killing it. So now I'm pretty much leak free.Anyway, got the alternator thrown in and put everything back together and when I turned the key for the first time, I was blown away by how well this refurbished alternator was working. My meter showed 14.4 volts coming out of the thing, and now everything finally worked again: air conditioning, windows, etc. And for some odd reason, my engine in now whisper quiet. So I guess the moral of the story is: Just cause it looks bad doesn't mean it is bad. My Odyssey is running great now and I couldn't be happier. If you're in the market for a new alternator, buy Denso and nothing else, even if it costs a few bucks more.

Fixed Honda Pilot Check Charging system message
Works! I was getting a loud hum from my 2010 Honda Pilot and got a “Check charging System” message on my dash. Replaced this in about an hour and a half with the help of YouTube videos. It works great, came packaged in a Denso box with some brown paper wrapped around it, pretty much the same way you would get it at an auto parts store. The pulley didn’t wobble when I spun it and nothing appeared to be broken. Everything was very clean and looked good. I’m definitely happy I went with this one, now only time will tell how long it lasts. I’ll update this review if I run into any issues with it.

Replaced 2008 Honda Odyssey Alternator, works great!
As with a prior review, I received a defective unit to start, where the brown connector was shattered upon arrival. The experience was below average with Amazon, as I submitted the order on a Friday, delivery was supposed to be Tuesday, got delayed until Thursday. Didn’t open the box until I took the old alternator out on Saturday and realized the refurb was broken, and didn’t receive the replacement until Tuesday. Our van was out of commission for quite some time due to these issues. Project is a BEAR, I understand why dealers charge as much as they do. We saved hundreds by going DIY, but be warned, it’s a tough job, recommend 2 people. Part works great though, it’s quiet, fit perfectly, and a few weeks in with no issues!

Installed this alternator --- Good voltage reading, quiet running
I installed this alternator on my 2011 Honda Pilot after the idiot light alerted me to the bad alternator, which was running noisy, and measured barely 12 volts. This new alternator fit perfectly and runs quiet. My voltage reading is around 13.8 with everything on. So far, so good. I will update if there are any problems.I almost bought an alternator from my local auto parts store, but the reviews were pretty bad for the ones they had available.

Not worth the price for a reman
My remanufactured unit lasted 13 months, one month over the warranty. Original car unit lasted for 9 years, which leads me to believe I’d be better off with a non-denso for the same price or not going remanufactured at all.

OEM replacement, but not easy to install.
Replacement for a failed unit on a 2011 Honda Pilot. Fit was on point, but it wasn't an easy job. Saved hundreds, but it wasn't easy. Watched a few YouTube videos and made it happen. Releasing the tension on the serpentine belt was the hardest part.

Good brand.
It is an excellent product, I would recommend it, the price is also good.

Honda Pilot 2009, 2011, 2012
I always use Denso Replacement Alternators on any Honda. I find most aftermarket ones are lucky to see 50,000kms or 30,000miles. DENSO generally reaches 250,000 to 300,000 kms per unit. More life if you convert all the bulbs to LED.

Works great!
As described and a bonus that I didn't have to deal with returning the core!

Works great but comes damaged, needs better packaging
Denso was the only brand Honda dealership recommended side from the OEM. And I have no complains about the alternator quality after installing it on 2009 Honda Pilot. My old one had failing bearings and started pulling much more engine power and making a whiny noise. The replacement process was medium complexity, mostly due to the tight space and really strong belt tensioner that they have, otherwise it would've been easy. There's an issue with the shipping/packaging though: the first item I ordered had a dent on the pulley as if it was simply hit and bent during shipping, so I filled a return and ordered a replacement, but the replacement had the same kind of damage (a bit less severe though). My plan was to replace the pulley with the one from the original alternator, but I didn't have the right socket size, so I decided not to mess with the impact driver near the bearings and left it as is, seems doing fine for now. I'd really encourage the seller to add an extra padding around the inner product box, where the pulley is.

Damaged pully
I got the box looking like this item was tampered with or a return. Opened the box and it has damaged pulley. I really relied on this part to get my vehicle going, so I'm stuck with this damaged part. Hope it at least works and is not faulty as it was expensive. After installing realized that the pins on the four prong connector were bent. Starting to think I should have gone with a $150-$200 alternator rather then this $500+ denso poorly rebuilt.
