RONSEAL ULTIMATE DECKING STAIN SLATE 2.5L, PAINT

I used Ronseal Ultimate Protection Decking Stain in Cedar (5L) on my garden patio, and I must say, I am extremely pleased with the results. This product seems really expensive but it really does preserve the decking that is even more expensive to replace. It’s a lot cheaper on Amazon, to the main DIY retailers, by about £15 per 5L tub.It’s easy to apply. It appears very liquidy but goes on great, dries quickly and really does a great job of weather-protecting wood.I’ve previously used a lighter colour (country oak) but used Cedar this time and it looks lovely. So far I’ve only used one coat but the photos show it protects from one coat. A second coat should just prolong the job longer. My deck is 13 years old and there’s been times I’ve not maintained it but I don’t think you can really tell once it’s restained. I prepared for the staining by jet washing the deck. I tried a decking cleaner but it didn’t make any difference so I would skip that step next time. The handrails I’ll sand down, use wood filler for any cracks & holes, stain x 2 then treat with a satin yacht varnish - this makes it much smoother and prevents splinters so it’s a lot of work.After using a hose, to water flowers, a little water residue was still sitting on the deck the following morning which shows it’s good at weather-protecting the wood.Overall, it’s a pain of a job (jetwashing, staining and repeat staining) and it’s costly but the results preserve your expensive deck and make it look great so just do it.

This is the 2nd 5l tin of this we have bought to paint our rather neglected decking. It look like we might need a 3rd! It doesn't seem to go very far but this may be because of the state of our decking. The finished colour is very nice and the finish seems to be non-slip. We hope not to fall over every time we go out the back door this winter! If you are considering purchasing this you must factor in the cost of needing 2 or more tins. However this is the cheapest price we found on line so we can't really complain.

Fantastic coverage and excellent quality.

I bought this to protect my kids play area for the winter months, I was recommended to use decking paint as it is a bit more hard wearing than normal stuff and the colours are better.It was very easy to use and so far it has great durability, I used a bit more than I would of liked as the wood soaked it in a fair amount so I ended up using 10 litres of this with 3 coats. Luckily I got the 5 litre tubs in a summer sale so was not too bad value for money.As you can see from the photos the change is amazing, we are now looking to buy more in a different colour to do the edging around the play area.Would easily recommend this, just be mindful that if it’s anything like I’m doing you will certainly need more than one coat.

Re stained decking. Did an excellent job.

I painted a new fence right round the back garden - about 200 ft long over 4 days. The decking stain was recommended as an alternative to fence paint and the finished fence is lovely. I chose Teak as the colour and it briught out the grain and the knots in the wood. Very different and much admired. It was easy to use and quick to dry. Even though I thought the stain was dear, I only used 2.5 tins and that was a really good coat. Well worth it!

rather i mention its water mix with a little whatever color.if you buy its waste of money , time, effort etc.twice used the color you could see the difference from the picture
