Saves time when cutting but takes more time when cleaning
My wife and I had this bagel cutter for several years now and to be honest, other than the first few weeks, we never used it until we had toddlers who also eat bagels with us. Why? Because any time saved from not having to cut the bagel with a knife is lost by having to clean this when you're done. Even though this is dishwasher safe, you're probably not going to put it in there every day. Most likely, you'll rinse and dry the blade and dump the crumbs from the entire unit. That takes way longer than tossing a knife in the dishwasher (or even cleaning a single knife).Of course, now that we have a family, we may cut up to six bagels at once. Now that makes sense for us to use this. That said, if you have terrible aim, have shaky hands, or throw bagel parties, that little extra time it takes to use/clean this might be worth it.

Doesn't always work
The great reviews got me interested in the Bagel Biter, after I gave myself a minor cut one morning. I was especially impressed that it holds the Costco sized larger bagel. But there's a problem. We freeze our bagels and then thaw them in the microwave just before cutting them and putting them in the toaster. The just-thawed bagels are little softer than fresh ones and the Bagel Biter just smooshes them into a little squished up pile of bagel inside. It just doesn't want to make a clean cut. So I have to take the bagels out of the freezer ahead of time and let them thaw, which I often forget to do.Also, I find the cuts (in the Costco bagels anyway) are lopsided. One half is always a bit bigger than the other which is really not what I had expected after reading the great reviews. So we still use it once in a while, but it's definitely not a standout.

Nearly really good
Does exactly what it promises. But Aussie bagels are thinner than US bagels, thus cuts a little crooked. We have tweaked it to cut straight. Really good cutter, but nee to be focused to cut thinner bagels.

Safe and Fun too!
I can honestly say I have not gone one day without cutting myself along with trying to cut a decent looking, equal on both sides bagel. This cutter works so well that other people in the house want to do all the bagel cutting. Even when they don't eat bagels. So there you have it. I expect to have this cutter for a long time. It is pretty heavy duty and you can get replacement blades (one thing that helped me decide to buy it). To me worth the price. If it lasts ten years the cost to me will be about 5 bucks per year. DEAL. I would recommend the guillotine to anyone.

Not worth it. Not commercial grade
If you are trying to slice fresh bagels, this thing just squishes them all up. Much easier to use a good serrated knife and do it yourself.

A "Must" Item For Bagel Lovers!
I've been a bagel lover since I'm a little kid; but as much as I love bagels, I hate having to cut them even more. For a long time now, it has seemed that a cut finger is an extra price I at times have to pay for enjoying my bagel. The Commercial Bagel Biter has put an end to that! This product slices your bagel effortlessly, evenly and without mess -- and leaves your fingers alone. Further, it works very well on bagels up to 5" long and 2" thick. While it is not inexpensive, it is definitely worth the price. Highly recommended.

Greatest Bagel Slicer Made, Period!!!
This bagel slicer has no equals. After blowing through a dozen different type of bagel slicers, between our coffee shops, we finally found this slicer on Amazon. While a couple of $ more, I've never replaced one of the three slicers that we own, in four years. Solid, will not bend or break, and each unit has sliced thousands of bagels. Good enough for commercial use, good enough for home use. My only regret is that we didn't find this one sooner, would have saved alot of bruised knuckles from breaking other lame bagel slicers.

Bought for Xmas, broke by New Years.
The plastic base separated after three uses, so at least this one was hardly the durable bagel slicer everyone else apparently reviewed.
