Budget Friendly Mixer With No Frills
Features and Construction. This Behringer RX1202FX V2 is an 8 mono channel mixer, with two additional stereo channels. the mono channels have Pan knobs, whereas the stereo channels have Balance knobs. That might be important if you are attaching more than 8 mono sources. All channels have a reasonably long throw fader and rotary knobs for Pan/Balance; FX send; Monitor send; Low EQ; High EQ; and Gain.Sadly there are no level meters for each channel. Instead there's a Clip LED. Another thing to bear in mind if you are going to be doing anything intensive or mission critical. There are 100 hundred effects patches with the usual array of reverbs, delays and choruses. There's a 1/4" headphone jack and a volume knob which doubles as a control room feed.Around the back there are the inputs and inserts, a 48v switch and power button.Power is supplied by a kettle type power lead, meaning the power transformer is internal. This is a good thing, and as far as I could tell it's presence inside the unit adds no noise or hum.The fascia is of the brushed aluminum sort, with the channel labels screen printed. Both seem like they will be quite hard wearing. The whole thing is well made, and the controls are perfectly useable, even though they don't have that premium gliding feel. I get the feeling that a heavy knock or bump might damage things, but in a safe studio environment I'm sure it'd be fine.Potential Uses.I see the Behringer RX1202FX V2 as a competent sub-mixer in a home studio. I couldn't detect anything unpleasant about the sound. In a purely technical sense I'm sure there are probably quieter and cleaner mixers out there, but the inherent quality now built in to almost everything Behringer does means you will likely get exactly the kind of performance you expect.I'm using the mixer to route my hardware synths into my audio interface, and it copes with that task without any fuss (see pics). The lack of channel meters means that this mixer would not be the best option as a main hub, even though it does have those channel inserts. Someone with more confidence in their own abilities might disagree.I wouldn't take this mixer into a live situation. I don't think it's tough enough unless the gig is a one-off. The normal rough and tumble of the road would not be kind to a piece of gear like this.Conclusion.Behringer gets a lot of criticism from the pro audio world, and it is true that their stuff tends towards corner cutting to save costs (here it's the absence of channel meters), but if you know what you want, and you are happy to make the compromise you will get a piece of gear that does the job without breaking the bank. The mixer was £135 in May 2026, and for that I think it's a bargain. It gets 5 stars from me because it does exactly what it says it will do, and it does it well.

EXCELLENT VALUE.
Not the best on the market, few things could be added, but it's not the worst either. Not by a long way!Overall, and especially for the price (£156 on 291022)this mixer is VERY GOOD VALUE INDEED.

Love it
Once again Behringer has delivered exactly the type/size/style of device I needed for my existing setup at a fraction of the cost of their competitors. Looks great, sounds great, cost was especially great compared to the $600-800 alternatives I was looking at.
