Q: Why has this ink increased so much in price??? Used to pay about $37 for the 2pack

save your money. Chunk the Kodak printer and get an Epson eco tank printer. I bought 5 bottles of ink for the Ecotsnk for what one kodak cartridge cost.

Q: if i only want to print in black do i need the color cartridge?

I think it will print if there is an empty color cartridge in the machine, but doubt it will print without a place holder cartridge. Good question, as I know an HP printer won't!
