I recently spent a couple of hours reading Beth McGee's new book Get Your House Clean Now: The Home Cleaning Method Anyone Can Master" and all I can say is...."where has this book been all my life?" The book has a conversational style that makes it very readable. Here, the author has given her reader a step-by-step and product-by-product instruction for systematically approaching that thing many of us tiptoe towards with more than mild trepidation - cleaning our own homes! She successfully blends user-friendly instruction with lighthearted and often humorous touches that made me keep reading about one of my least favorite topics. I realized as I read, that this book is not a one-time read, but is a reference book that I can revisit again and again when I run into trouble. The product list is particularly helpful, since I've spent countless wads of cash on products that claim to address particular cleaning issues, only to find they don't measure up to the claims made. Ms McGee's suggestions as to alternative uses for particular products was most helpful. For example, I like Bar-Keeper's Friend for my sinks, but who knew I could use it on my cook-top! Let's face it, cleaning is a drag, so finding a resource that reduces my personal suffering, is a good thing. I recommend this book to others who shudder at the thought of cleaning their own homes. Let Beth McGee walk you through it! You'll be glad you spent the time.

this book is short and to the point
Who needs a romantic exposition filled house cleaning book? Instead I can hand this book to my husband and say “follow these steps” and there is no room for error. Highly recommend for the product info alone. We just started to maintain a 5 unit vacation rental and the cleaning is endless, but following her methods are going to make it much more standardized AND cheaper because she errs on the side of “only use harsh chemicals when necessary”. Highly recommend. It would also be perfect for college students or people new to homeownership.

If you have not been cleaning your home much this book is to read.
This to me is a refresher course in how to take care of your home. It really deeply explains it.

Finally!
This book is a "how to" for people who want a simple but thorough cleaning routine. It gives product recommendations as well as alternatives, but doesn't try to sell you on buying a lot of unnecessary cleaners. The author even states what the products are good (and not good) for, and under what circumstances they can be helpful. Most of the cleaning instructions boil down to dish detergent, hot water, and microfiber towels as the basic necessary tools. The book outlines common overlooked/problem spots in each room and the steps to take to clean each room quickly and efficiently. As someone who hates cleaning, the advice in this book is practical and useful.

Expert advice from a cleaning pro!
I picked up this book because even though I'm a seasoned homemaker, my home has been a low priority while I've been busy with three children and work projects over the last few months. I was hoping for some new tips and tricks before I undertake a thorough, top-to-bottom cleaning in time for holiday visitors, and this book didn't disappoint.Ms. McGee walks you through each task, giving you the exact steps to follow, in the proper order, as you work your way around each room of your home. The author's background as a professional house cleaner definitely shows, and even those of us who are experienced at cleaning our homes can learn some new tricks from this book. Most valuable for me were the product recommendations and the bonus product guide. I can't remember the last time I was excited to clean my house, but this book has definitely inspired me to get started.

An outstanding book with simple but detailed instructions on how to clean
I moved recently and still have boxes in my living room and 2 of my bedrooms. As the holiday season approaching, I feel very stressful trying to get my house ready for my guests. After reading this book, I'd like to apply the techniques I learned. First, I'll open my boxes to see what I can de-clutter from the boxes to donate, trash or recycle. Then, I'll follow the instructions of this book to clean and de-clutter my whole house. "Get Your House Clean Now: The Home Cleaning Method Anyone Can Master" will be my cleaning reference guide from now on.

A clean house is no longer just a dream
You wouldn't think you would need to read a book to help you to tidy up, but its an area I struggle with. I am messy. Reading Get your house clean now helped me to realise that its ok. We are not all domestic goddesses and we don't want to spend every waking hour cleaning. However, deep down we all wish we had a house we could be proud of and allow people to come in without having the fear of the dreaded pile of dishes in the sink. Beth McGee gives many hints and tips about organising yourself to get a job done quickly and easily to the level you can manage in the time you have. There are product recommendations which I think helps as it is much nicer to do a job with all the tools to make the task smooth. Since starting to read Get your house clean now I am making an effort to sort out my life and have a more inviting house. I love that this is a room by room guide and involves having a clear out and complete analysis of your things and use of space. I know that when I have finished my house will be easier to manage. Some time should be afforded the task of keeping an inviting home but I for one want it to be less is more, so the hints and tips are very invaluable to me, thank you.
