Great stove for larger cooking needs
I have a smalle JetBoil and have used it for personal use. Last summer, my son and I joined a crew of 8 for a 12 day hike through Philmount Scout Reservation. Our crew had prepared MSR Whisperlight stoves for the trip. A week before the trip I told a neighbor about the trip and he had been the year before. He offered the Jetboil Joule stove for our crew to use. I wasn't sure at first but decided to check it out. It was light, a bit bulky, but no more than any 2.5L pot. The proof was in the pudding. I opted to leave my MSR whisperlite and take the Joule, with another in the crew bringing his Whisperlite. At the first camp, we used both stoves and the Joule was incredible. Much faster boil time. No pumping and priming the stove. Our ranger suggested we no use the Jetboil, but after having dinner ready in 5 minutes with nearly 2L of water boiled, he was asking were to buy one for himself! The Cons: The igniter wire did come free from the attachment under the stove - the fuel canister can bump this area if stored there upside down when traveling. All it needed was a small soldiering job, but we just used a lighter until we returned and could perform the repair. The stove is a bit delicate - trying to save weight and size with aluminum requires some compromises. Our clamp holding the flame element came loose and 30 seconds of tinkering, it was back to running perfectly. The stove is very efficient with fuel, very fast to boil water - we would often show up to a campsite as another crew was already heating water, but the Joule allowed us to boil water and rehydrate our food and start eating before the other crew had even boiled their water. All three adults in our crew are hoping to use these on our next treks and I just bought one for my own Christmas gift.

Super fast!
Really love this system! This thing is fast!!! We can have coffee on the trail in less than 3 minutes! We had the old original jetboil from when it first came out and it has worked great, however we are a backpacking family of 5 now and we needed a better option for making coffee and oatmeal or whatever else for that many people. It is much bigger, so space and weight are a concern, but now we can all eat together, rather than making several pots of water to feed everyone. And did I mention this is fast! It is loud, but it doesn't bother us. The main downside we have found is with the handle. It's just a little wobbly feeling, but we've used it on several backpacking trips now and it hasn't failed us.

Simplify your camping experience
Highly recommended!I did extensive research on camping stoves before I decided to go with the Jetboil Joule, and the research paid off. This stove is great! It brings water or soup to boil in about 2 minutes. My mornings while camping have been improved and simplified by this handy stove. No more getting a campfire started first thing when you wake up, only to wait forever for your water to boil just for a cup of coffee. The adjustable flame output is a handy feature as well. It is about the size of a football at its widest point, but very lightweight. The container is a little difficult to lock into the stand, but not bad.One thing I was unsure of after its first use is whether or not I should leave the fuel canister (which is not included BTW) connected for fear of all the gas escaping, but the fuel canister can, and should, be removed after each use with minimal gas leakage.

No Joule in the rough here! Epic Fail.
Bought this , tested it at home and it worked for three or four test boils. I took 4 little ones on a 5 day backpacking trip and on night one, 9 miles in... the stove failed. Tried multiple cans and still failed. Had flame but no "Jet" pressure like test boils. Epic FAIL. Since I bought it over the period of return/exchange I'm now left to deal with Jetboil. Thanks to the kindness of others, I used their stoves. I was hosed. I have jetboil PCS and SOlTI and was happy but this thing cannot get my recommendation after use. The fuel worked in others' stoves... I will be emailing jetboil and I will add their response when I get it!Don't buy Jetboil products!!!!!!! Especially online here! IF it is a dud, as mine was.... you're stuck since you use a backpacking product a couple times in a year. JETBOIL customer service is laughable. They still have mine after a complaint from January........... The only thing worse than this product is the customer service behind the company..............

it was now as easy. All that being said
While it worked reasonably well in the subzero degrees, the lighter stopped working after the first use, so we had to manually light the flame. Not idea when it is supper cold and lighters don't work well when they are cold. Then on the 4th use the little handle for turning the flame up and down broke. We were still able to control the flame, it was now as easy. All that being said, it did heat or water quickly even at -5 degrees.

Awesome Stove
This is a great stove. I did some test boils with ice cold water and it boils 2 liters in about 4 minutes. It was a bit windy outside so on a no wind day I'd imagine it would boil faster. I'm taking it on our first trip next weekend and it will be cooking for 4 people. I will updates review upon our return.Update: This stove perform like a champ. I lit the stove and put 2 Liters of ice cold water in the pot and it surprised me how fast the water boiled. This is a great buy for a big group.

Impressive product
This is a pretty impressive product. It will boil a couple liters of water in a couple minutes. It is perfect for making soups, coffee, or anything requiring hot water. It does tend to be difficult to regulate the heat if you're just wanting to simmer something. And the ignitor does tend to not always work as expected. Those nits aside, I highly recommend it.

Great product
This is the second Jetboil product I have. One for solo backpacking - which I love. And now this one for more than one on a camping trip - generally car camping. I love it as well. I have used it just a couple time to test it and find it works just as I expected. It is too large for my backpacking treks, however it is perfect for campground use when there is two of us.
