Very good mount for the boat
Very good mount for the boat. Everything is rock solid except the little arm that connects the helm section to the tablet section. This is plastic and flexes a little. Mak eit aluminum and it would be rock solid. I have a toughpad which is probably 3 times as heavy as the average tablet so it wiggles a little. An Ipad would likely not move at all. That said these are cheap and I will buy one again or similar if needed.

Solid tablet holder
Loved this used this on our RZR 800 and took it for a test ride over some pretty rocky territory and it held steady the whole time holding a tablet for our gps. Our cross bars were maximum expanse for this but it still worked really well

Difficult to mount on rails for diameter more than 32mm
Although the spec says it can support rails and posts up to 33mm diameter, I find it quite difficult to apply it on my bicycle stem of diameter 32mm+.The bundled screws can barely support 33mm diameter. For extra safety, I replace the bundled screws with longer ones found at local hardware store.

Works great to mount iPad as chart plotter
I used this to mount an iPad Air in a Lifeproof case to the steering pedestal of my 35' sail boat to use as a chart plotter. It works perfectly. The mount articulates, so I was able to position the iPad such that it does not block my compass. There is some slight flex to the plastic arm between the two ball joints that connects the rail bracket to the part that holds the iPad, so there is a slight wobble or vibration to the iPad when we hit large boat wakes or when the engine is running. This is not enough to detract from use of the iPad as a chart plotter and does not bother me. I mention it because if you are looking for a fully rigid mount, this may not be the best choice for you.

Misses the mark
It worked well enough as a mount on a grab rail on my center console. The problem is the limitations of the "jaws". The tablet I use for a chart plotter is too narrow for the short set of "jaws" and too long for the long set. It will not fit securely either using the long or short axis of the device with any combination of the options that come with this mount.I had to do some creative engineering with velcro and hand made spacers to get this to work and I"m not at all happy that they can't include mounting brackets to cover a wider range of devices. The REASON you would use this is because chart plotters cost a lot, but a tablet with Navionics Marine HD is by comparison cheap. Also a tablet running RayMarine WiFish might be an application you would consider. Things like that ... If you're going to use an iPad you're spending so much on a tablet that you might as well just buy the default electronics gear for your boat. It is far more economical to buy a cheap Android device that can easily be replaced if it is destroyed or stops functioning. So it would be really nice if the manufacturer/seller would include a wider range of mounting options because with one or two more sets of these "jaw" things that clamp on the mount you'd be able to use this with pretty much anything.Other than that, it is very sturdy and well made and the spring system that clamps down on the device looks to be solid and dependable enough. The mount that goes on a rail or binnacle is very solid and grips well, it includes rubber spacers to fit a reasonable range of diameters. When this is mounted in the boat it stands up well and holds the device firmly in a good chop with the hull pounding on the water. In all those regards it works just fine but ...Throwing in a few more pieces of formed plastic would make this a five-star instead of a two star item. Normally I start with five stars and take stars off for problems, issues, defects and poor engineering. I would have used that formula for this except that it will not even do what it is advertised to do for ME without serious modifications. It's disappointing to order and receive something that says "Fits all 7" to 12" tablets" and then it doesn't do what it claims. That's why it only got two stars from me.

Good secure base for a sailboat rail.
This provides a secure base for my cheap tablet on my sailboat helm guard which is a 1" steel tube. I can run my navigationi GPS app on my tablet and see where I am while steering the boat. The adjustment has a good amount of friction so the tablet doesn't slide or flop around. Good quality product.

Just what I needed!
I have my charts on my iPad Mini and wanted some way to mount the iPad in my boat. This product fit the bill perfectly and has held the iPad in place firmly through some moderately heavy swells. Very pleased!

IPad at the helm!
Mounted on the 1" tube guard around the sailboat helm. Better than expected at this price. Solid plastic mount. I remove the ball and keep it with the iPad prior to covering with the canvas pedastle cover. Consistently tight after dozens of uses.
