I had been looking for a large barrel curling tong for a while. I saw this & decided to give it a try & I am so glad I did. My hair is quite long & this gives beautiful bouncy curls. There is a protective glove but I find I don't need it. I highly recommend this product.

I am not a girlie girl, but love to have wavy hair styled correctly. I have a pack of curling tongs from the early 90s that still work as they are rarely used, but they are not efficient nor easy to use. I decided to get this product because it is wavy hair I'm after, rather than tight curls or spirals.When it first arrived, I was impressed by the packaging - it comes in a sleek black box, that should keep it safe for many years. You can set the wand to various temperatures, and I went for 180degrees as my hair is fairly thick and I like to bake at that temperature. It got up to temperature much quicker than I was expecting (it turns out technology has moved on since the 90s...) and was very easy to use. The waves around my face lasted all evening, without me using any kind of mousse or hair spray!I was very glad to see that it came with a heatproof glove, and though it looks thin, it works really well. I do wish it came with a pair, though, since when attempting to do the back of my head, instead of pressing the button to retract the bristles, I instead put my finger straight on to the tong itself. Ouch! These are definitely hot! I was going to give them to my teen daughter, as she often needs curls for her dance festivals, but given she is clumsier than I am, I have decided to keep them, and do her hair for her, as I wouldn't want her to burn herself and not be able to dance because of it.Overall, despite my mishap, I am impressed with this, as it is easy for someone like me to get beautiful waves.

I don't like being negative but I'm sorry to say that my first impression of this curling wand wasn't great. The packaging is excessively big in my opinion and the curling wand itself feels quite light and not very sturdy. I have a conical curling wand from Babyliss which feels really well-built and solid, unlike the one from REVAMP.I was really looking forward to using these curlers with wider diameter than my Babyliss and I was intrigued by the retractable bristles as my hair often slips off the barrel. Unfortunately, I found the 'bristles' were getting a bit stuck during curling and the feature wasn't working as seamlessly as I would have hoped. In the end I gave up on them and locked them in (you can use the curlers with them hiding inside the barrel).Another disappointing thing was the curling functionality itself, I have fine blond hair so I cannot use high temperature otherwise my hair would get damaged. The curlers heated up fairly quickly but I didn't get nice loose curls that I was hoping for, as the lower temperatures failed to curl my hair even if I applied the heat for longer that recommended in the manual. I tried with thinner sections of hair too but I still didn't get the results I was hoping for. I gave up in the end..Worryingly, the power button did switch the curlers on but didn't seem to be able to switch them off - I had to unplug them from the mains for them to switch off. (The product does have an automatic shut-off function after 72 minutes.)To summarise, I'd say that I was expecting a lot more from this product. It didn't feel good quality and it didn't curl my hair well. I might return to it again one day and I will update my review if I change my mind about it, but for now it is 3 stars from me (the ideas are good but it didn't deliver the results).

I purchased these curling tongs to replace my very old ones which, actually still work but these have a more efficient and easier to use heat control/temperature switch etc. They are good at what they do and are designed to do but, they are very heavy. In fact, they are the heaviest styling product I have ever come across and I have used quite a lot over the years, including rather heavy straighteners. Do not purchase if you are unable to hold items for hair styling for very long and, at shoulder/head height etc.
