The Story:My xfx 290x double dissipation came from the factory over clocked and had max temps in the range of 70-80C while under full load such as during games, benchmarks, furmark, and folding@home on the stock cooler. The I'm a low to medium time gamer, but leave my computer on 24/7, and after nearly 2 years, my card started getting up into the mid to upper nineties while playing light games in a temperate climate. That's way hotter than I'm comfortable with, and I assumed that maybe the crappy stock thermal paste was finally breaking down. Right when I was about to take everything apart, and apply my Arctic Silver 5, one of the fans started making a grinding noise on the stock cooler. Over the course of a week, the fan was sounding aweful when trying to ramp up. Instead of replacing the stock fans, I decided to get this cooler.The Good:Temps are now back in the 70-80c range, with idle temps down in the 30-40 range on average (slightly cooler than before at idle). The cooling solution is fairly quiet which I really REALLY like (sensitive ears). Made the overall case air temp drop a couple of degrees for the rest of the components by not having the stock cooler dump hot air in the system. Somewhat straight forward to install. Fit fairly well.The bad:First off, getting the radiator mounted to the fan is a complete joke with the screws they provide. I had to bore out the case side mounting holes on my 120mm fan just to get the screw driver down far enough to screw the radiator to the fan. I have seen much better execution of this type of radiator system from other manufacturers. Next major issue... my kit had been opened and installed on some card previously (the foam had indents from being seated on another card, the packing was a mess and not at all in original bags, and my kit was missing the thermal paste that was supposed to come with). Now all that aside, I did have enough of the kit to install on my card, using my own thermal paste (Arctic Silver 5), and the instructions were still there, although I had to guess which screws went where due to everything being dumped in a single bag and not marked. ARCTIC Cooling, in their infinite wisdom also decided that the ram and other components on my card that were being cooled by the factory cooler... no longer needed any form of cooling. I decided to trust them, which lasted all of 5 days. I was starting to get microstutters and a little bit of artifacting in my current games like rocket league and grim dawn that I never had before (even when at 98c), all due to the 290x's ram getting too hot. Not sure if a factory clocked card would hold up any better, but I doubt it. Long story short, I bought a pure copper ram kit off Amazon and stuck that on the 290x's ram, and that seems to have fixed the issue. I think all these issues are major oversights and they are lucky to get 3 stars out of my rating.Would I recommend this kit? No, not unless you had no other option. Personally, I may end up trying to replace the fans on my factory cooler because I didn't see a significant drop in max temps compared for a fully functional factory double dissipation xfx type cooler, and I'm not comfortable not having certain components on the card that previously had thermal cooling, no longer getting it. Time will tell to what extent those few days of microstutters and artifacts damaged my card and how much longer it will actually live, because stuff like that actually damages the components on the inside causing the card to fail much sooner than it otherwise would have. So thanks Arctic Cooling for damaging my 290x that I worked so hard to afford 2 years ago. I should have known better, but you should have too.

I'm rather disappointed in this product. I've ordered lots of Arctic Cooling products over the years and they are ALWAYS top notch. The fit and finish of this product is great -- everything is high quality and I like the eco-friendly packaging. However, I have to echo others' experience that installing this thing is an exercise in frustration.The biggest downfall is the thermal pads I received were not sticky at all. If they were stuck to the back of the heatsink/mount, this process would have been MUCH simpler. As it was, though, I had to do too many things at once -- apply TIM, hold the back plate on (without the pads falling out or shifting out of position, which they did continually), try to lineup the spring-loaded screw into the block mount points, of which it only fit in one....Suffice it to say, you must work smarter, not harder. The directions are useless, I wouldn't bother following them.On to performance. For my application, I've found the 120 is probably a little too small. I would have been happier with the 140 kit I think, but space was an issue on my particular case, and Amazon didn't have them in stock anyway. That said, with a fairly high overclock on my 1080 (2151mhz), I run about 55C in games after an hour or so. So, it's a large upgrade over fans... but I was hoping for more like 50C. =) And this is with a second fan I had laying around for Push-Pull.The other reason I deduct some stars is this system SHOULD be push pull, so another fan should be included. So, sticky thermal pads, a better mounting system than the silly springs/universal bracket, and a second fan... with these changes you'd have a 5 star all day rating.My technical expertise level is IT Technician for 15+ years. I de-lid CPUs, build servers, etc. I've done most things on computers, and I found the experience frustrating and unintuitive. Overall, I wouldn't not recommend this kit, but I'd advise buyers to check out the NZXT g10/g12 or even look at the hybrid solutions from EVGA now.I had the spare fan and the technical bravery to give this one a go, so I saved a few bucks. This kit is not worth it at the $119 price point however. I paid $94 I think with Prime.

UPDATE 1/15/17: Got everything squared away. Keeps my machine from overheating. Good cooler for the money. Thanks Arctic.UPDATE 12/27/16: Waiting on the generic heatsink set from Arctic. I will report back after it is installed. Arctic has been very accommodating to help resolve this issue for me.I ordered the 290x version of this cooler for an ASUS 290X. Installation was straight forward and this is an easy way to liquid cool a gpu.My 290x ran at 92C under full load on the dual fan air cooled setup from ASUS. I know my card is advertised to run up to 95C, but sometimes the card would overheat and my PC would freeze. Hoping to stretch a little more life out of the card until Vega arrives, I purchased this kit even though it had mixed reviews.During the install, when it came time to put the VRM heatsink on, I was disappointed to find that it did not fit my card at all. Like not even close. The screw holes don't align to the card, the heatsink isn't long enough, and all the VRMs are not covered by the thermal pad. I resorted to reinstalling the stock heatsink on the VRMs. Im not sure if I was given the wrong heatsink or if my particular card is different from the base card they designed the heatsink for.Under full load, the card now peaks at 87C. Not great results, but it is enough to keep my PC from freezing and I no longer have take my side panels off the case while gaming for extended periods. For the price of this kit, I wasn't expecting amazing results, but if the VRM heatsink was correct, maybe my temps would be lower.It's really a shame because if I had the appropriate VRM cooler and my temps stayed in the 70s or low 80s, this would be an easy 4 to 5 star product considering the cost. Maybe I should have ordered the generic version and tried my luck with that.

Datos super desactualizados, investigando descubres que hay versiones con diferente kit de disipador de la vrm o que unos si sirven para 1080 y otro no pero en la caja o publicación por info desactualizada no hay forma de saber, me tocó uno que no, hubo que limar el disipador por que traía Un soporte de aluminio justo sobre un choker que no permitía que los MOSFET hicieran contacto con el thermalpad en una 1080 FE , el ventilador que tiene de fabrica es de serie F flujo no de presión, para radiador funcionan bastante mal haciendo que incrementará en 10c la temperatura del resto de los componentes del gabinete, se solucionó con un ventilador bionix de presión también arctic, los thermalpad venían inservibles secos y no se sostenían en su lugar, se ocupó comprar nuevo thermalpad... Al final está en idle a 35c (10 sobre la temperatura ambiente) 50 máximo en carga y 60 máximo en hotspot. Si funciona, pero ocupa mucho trabajo adicional al de por si laborioso ensamble y más dinero para cinta térmica adhesiva + los pad+ pasta térmica no seca y la lima para metal si no tienen una. Mejor hubiera comprado el adaptador nzxt

Had to play arpund to get it to fit but has been running awesome fod months of gaming. No longer have to listen to the fan kn my vid card.

Tengo una radeon r9 290 y se calienta hasta 75 grados con algunos juegos, después de dos horas se comienza a sentir la radiación de calor hacia el exterior del chasis. Lo raro es que solo con algunos juegos llego a ese numero (lo he notado con Overwatch y con Rise of Tomb Rider) Se juegan bien otros pesados como Doom o Call of Duty, Skyrim, Ark, Shadow of mordor.

Bought this for my EVGA 980ti SC ACX2.0 since the cooling solution that came as standard is pretty poor. Using the stock cooling numerous games would push the temperatures to 75-80c and with that the fans would become ridiculously noisy. So having used the Hybrid II-120 on my GTX 970 with impressive results, I thought I'd get this one for the 980ti.Fitting it is was fairly straight forward, found it a bit fiddly fixing the pump to the rear heatsink, but it was much easier when I realised if you place the pump flat facing up, place the card on top of the pump, then the heatsink on the back of the card, you can finally tighten the screws without much bother. I'd recommend putting in one screw with just a few turn to hold it in place, gently move the card around to line up the other holes, then add the second screw in the opposite corner.Anyway, temperatures are now incredibly low, I thought something was actually wrong at first since nothing would push the temperatures over 40c, but after checking the clockspeeds (1326mhz) and the fps, everything was fine and it was just the Hybrid III doing an outstanding job, the fan is also pretty much silent, quieter than my cpu and case fans, brilliant piece of kit for the money, highly recommended.

Ended up having to come up with a workable solution for my ASUS 980TI Poseidon after one of the fans started to go ape. I *could've* simply replaced the fan but I figured that I may as well go the whole way and grab a complete after-market cooler. Unfortunately, not being a reference design, that left me scrambling to find something that would fit and, lo and behold, this was it.All-in-all, temperatures have dropped by around 40C with the card plateauing at a very satisfying 48C.Gluing the VRM heatsinks on was a bit of a pain, as was trying to juggle attaching the cooler itself to the GPU--I can't help feeling there must have been a simpler way to have pulled it off. I also think that the VRM fan sits very flimsily on the single column used to mount it against the card but it all came together and it works well, so I really can't fault it very much.I'd recommend Arctic Silver thermal paste for the GPU and Arctic Silver adhesive for the VRM chips, personally (old habits die hard), though I'm sure the stuff it's supplied with work well enough.
