Exactly what I needed!!!
The Grate Seal is really a great seal!! We have been having an issue with odor coming from our shower drain. We have found several products that have helped stop the odor, but none of them would drain while we were taking showers, so the water would pool on the floor and leave a mess. I finally bought the grate seal and it worked perfectly. The water flows down the drain like normal (absolutely ZERO pooling) and it stops the odor from coming up. The design is so smart and simple. I only needed a screw driver to install it (so I could remove my drain cover). It fit perfectly and would be easy to remove if need be. I highly recommend this.

Save me hundreds
Installed over a floor drain in our 1950s and the sewer gases disappeared. Highly recommend this product. It will save you tons of money.

That funk, stunk
SO our shower doesn't have a p trap under it, and putting one in would be a logistical nightmare, so I needed something else after thinking it was just build up in the shower. Having poured gallons of bio based cleaners, nothing worked. I finally thought to search for other solutions and found a few similar topside install gas blockers and this one seemed like it would provide the longest life due to simple mechanics. It's a bit pricey for what it is however worth it to stop the smells of sewer gas in our shower. I guess they know that. I hope it lasts a couple of years at least and will be on the market for years to come as I'll likely buy it again once this one withers away from the texas heat.

Works well
This product works exactly as described. It can handle a lot of water and the shower does not back up. The product itself should be a couple millimeters wider and it would be a perfect fit. I used just a little clear silicone to get it seated permanently in the drain. I hope it lasts!

May need to trim it, but good product.
One of the showers in our old house doesn't have a p-trap under it, so the bathroom regularly smelled pretty gross. I don't have the time tear up the ceiling below and try to fit a p-trap in, so I thought I'd give this Grate seal a try.Initially after I installed it, water was pooling up about a half an inch high when the shower was running, and didn't completely drain after the shower was turned off.I trimmed about a 1/2 an inch off the flat bottom part and it seemed to solve the slow draining issue. No more sewer smell and water drains fine.

Exactly what I needed but too pricey
I was having sewage gas back up from the shower. I think it's because the pipes in my shower do not create the proper shape for a full water trap. I lifted up the drain and installed this. It definitely works and I haven't smelled the gas since. The water still drains very well albeit a tiny bit slower. Overpriced for what it is, but it works!Update: It is now about 7 months later and the seal on the bottom is now ajar and this product no longer works.

Gets the Stink OUT!
Product works exceptionally well. Tad bit over priced but this product saved us from doing construction work all over again due to incorrect plumbing being done during our remodel. We kept smelling sewer gases in our bathroom that was aggravating to my then pregnant wife. Product was very easy to install and has been there for a little over 1 month. Will recommend to anyone.
