Clopay Garage Door Bottom Weather Seal T-Style 3 3/4 Wide 5 1/6"T" (16')

Q: How do you measure the bottom of a garage door to insure the proper size is purchased?

If you are trying to determine the correct dimension across the bottom of the weather seal , then the most accurate method for ensuring proper sizing, would be to measure the existing seal to use as a guide. This particular seal is 3-3/4" wide across the bottom—which is significantly wider than the original seal on my garage door. However, since the seal is semicircular in shape once it is mounted (like the picture shown hereto the left) but flattens out once the garage door is shut, any excess material just pooches out slightly on either side of the door, meaning a seal that is too wide will still work just fine. It would be worse if you purchased a seal that wasn’t wide enough. And of course you have two more critical dimensions to consider—the length along the entire garage door, usually either 8 or 16 feet, and the size of the seal T inserts that mount into the slots of the bottom plate—either 1/4", 5/16" or 3/8". If you get a T size to large, then you will have an almost impossible forcing them in, and if you get one too small, then it won’t mount securely. Hope this helps.

Q: What measures 5 1/6"?

The “t” s that are shown in each of the two channels are 5/16”. The 5 1/6” is a typo.

Q: Is this epdm or vinyl? they are not the same thing.

Not sure probly vinyl. But I used this size and it's too big , I would use a 4@1 I 4

Q: Ad says "by clopay" but the description says oem fit. Then it says "compatible with amari, clopay etc..." Is this manufactured by clopay? part number ?

I'm not sure if it's made by clopay but it does fit like it is an OEM product. I needed a a seal that was 3 3/4 inches wide to fill the gap between my door and floor, as opposed to the Lowes or Home Depot Frost King products that only offered a 2 3/4 in. seal. The gauge on this product wasn't as thick as the frost king product but it works fine.
