Works, but very poor scent selection. -- UPDATED.
The good news is this works — I'd say even better than the baking soda natural brands I've tried before, like A&H. Most importantly for me, the lack of baking soda in their sensitive skin line means it doesn't turn my underarms dark brown or red, which literally every other natural deodorant has.It won't keep you smelling pristine for days on end the way the best aluminum antiperspirants might, but it's more than enough to get me through a day (and even part of the next) without any offensive smells. You'll smell human, but not stinky. It's also easy to apply — they go out of their way to give directions about the proper way to apply it, including heating it up against the skin etc. etc., but I don't think it matters much. Just slap a little on, heated or not. Your body heat will soften and absorb it on its own anyway. Like any white solid deodorant it's going to leave a little residue on the skin, but if you're going shirtless or sleeveless for the day just give it a swipe with some tissue shortly after applying and that takes care of it.Now the bummer: their scent selection is anemic and doesn't even hit all the basic categories a proper deodorant brand should. Especially in the sensitive skin line, your only choices are medicinal, flowery or tropical drink. There is a SERIOUS lack of spicy or neutral options, or even unobtrusive sweet scents like vanilla. I get that they're a smaller company that started with a very specific demographic, but even plenty of women these days aren't interested in deodorant that offers a strict choice between perfume or cocktails, so I don't get the dearth.--UPDATE--In keeping with their satisfaction guarantee, one of their reps got in touch with me and sent me a very generous sample of their jasmine tea and unscented bars, both from the sensitive skin line. While the jasmine tea was not to my taste at all, there was more luck with the unscented variety. It's only about 70% as effective odor-wise as the green tea was for me, so I've found it works best to layer one swipe of the tea tree over the unscented, for reasonable odor control without feeling that I smell like a medicine cabinet.I will raise my review one more star in acknowledgement of their responsive customer service, and the fact that roughly a month later I can say for certain that their formula does work well enough to become my new daily deodorant.Unfortunately, it's still an open question whether I'll buy another bar, due entirely to the scent selection. I was in love with my old antiperspirant's scent, I enjoyed having it be the "smell of me," and I want to LOVE whatever natural deodorant I end up sticking with. I strongly urge Schmidt's to give me the chance to love their product by opening up their scent variety significantly. If that day comes, I'm sure I'll be updating this review to 5 stars.I understand the history of this company and applaud what it's done so far, but want it to remember that it's not going to be successful in its push into the mainstream without offering at least a slightly more mainstream selection of scent choices.

Nearly Perfect!
This deodorant is perfect for those of us sensitive to baking soda. I'm so glad I found it! That said, I have 3 problems: the scent, longevity of the scent, and absorption into the skin. The tea tree oil fragrance is kind of harsh and smells more like a cleaner than a deodorant. I don't like floral scents so I thought this would be a good alternative. It's not noticeable except right as I'm putting it on, so it's not a major problem. It just surprised me. Also, the scent fades quickly. I sweat a lot and I have noticed on the particularly harsh days that I smell funky before I leave the office, sometimes as early as 4 PM. (I apply it around 7 AM). Could just be my problem though! As far as absorption, I tend to rub it in now. At first I applied it like a normal deodorant and most of it ended up on my clothes or in little balls in the creases of my underarms. Rubbing it in solved those problems but I wonder if that's part of why the scent doesn't last long! But at the end of the day, I still prefer this over other deodorants and I am glad I got it! I will probably buy this again, just in a different fragrance.

Works best when cycled with other deodorants. Leaves white stains on clothing.
I've used homemade magnesium hydroxide (aka "milk of magnesia") deodorants in the past because most commercial deodorants give me rashes. Personally, I find that the magnesia works far better than crystal or salt-based natural deodorants, so that's a plus. I also use tea tree oil in a lot of things and am comfortable with it, so I barely notice the smell and maaaybe it helps a bit as an antibacterial, though I'm not sure what the real concentration is in this. The only downside of this is in the ingredients that hold it all together - I'm guessing the wax and arrowroot are the culprits - which leave sticky white stains on clothing that don't wash out in the regular wash unless you use very hot water, which I tend not to do. So I end up having to pull a few shirts out of my freshly cleaned laundry here and there to scrub them with very hot soapy water. The stains do come out, but it's a bit more maintenance than I prefer, and I never had that problem when I was just rubbing plain ol' milk of magnesia in my pits.Overall, I tend to cycle between this deodorant, the regular (baking soda based) Schmidt's Natural Deodorant, Cedarwood + Juniper, 2 Ounce deodorant, and Lavilin Underarm Deodorant Cream (zinc-oxide based) every couple of days to prevent getting rashes and to keep myself from smelling bad.

WE HAVE A WINNER!! (mostly)
I've been searching for years for a natural/chemical-free deodorant that doesn't feel sticky, actually works to deodorize, doesn't cause a rash and that hopefully hopefully does something to prevent wetness. ALL BOXES CHECKED with this product. I sweat less than I thought I would with this product, and when I do there is no "smell" and the stickiness doesn't linger. It goes on a little sticky, but again, doesn't linger. Unlike most other natural deodorants I forget I'm wearing it (ex. doesn't travel down my arm during the day or irritate me constantly). Granted I'm not a long distance runner or anything, but I've put this product through hours of house cleaning, yoga classes, and afternoons full of running around doing errands. I will be re-ordering this product!**update** unfortunately I find that this does leave armpit stains on clothes, but I like this product enough to put up with scrubbing them out when I do laundry.**update #2** I recently hosted an outdoor party where I was running around in the heat and wearing a white t shirt. While I was wearing it I developed visible green stains on the outside of the shirt. Have to take away one star down to 4 stars now :-(

I am a Schmidt's convert!
This is the only all-natural and vegan deodorant I have found that does the job without irritating my skin. It has kept me BO-free for up to sixteen hours a day, regardless of activity levels, including during a heatwave. The tea tree scent isn't overpowering, but it lasts throughout the day and people are always commenting that I smell nice! It's easy to apply, and based on daily use for two months I would say it's got at least another six months before it starts to run out, so don't be put off by the price!

Vraiment ravie !

It works, but it's too thick and pasty
I've tried all sorts of natural deodorants over the years and this product appealed to me due to the very natural-looking ingredients. There's no question that this stuff works at keeping odor away. However, what killed it for me is that it doesn't glide on effortlessly like other solid stick deodorants. First, it needs to be warmed to underarm temperature, at which point it becomes a sticky, thick paste. The stick therefore doesn't glide; rather, it sticks to and catches and grabs at your hairs and skin.At first, I was applying way too much for this reason and this was causing skin irritation. Not wanting to throw it out (because it's frankly rather expensive), I resorted to dabbing it on in a few places and then rubbing with my fingers to get complete coverage, but then I would have to wash my hands with soap and water because it would stick to my fingers, and ... you get the point. So even though the irritation eventually went away with less on, it became just too much of a hassle to apply and this is not the least bit desirable to me first thing in the morning.
