This gripping mystery, set in 1980s London, begins with a horrifying murder that leaves the reader reeling. Police found a dead corpse with hideous makeup hanging from the ceiling of a chapel. Henry Conwell and Ezra Danial, his mentor, investigate the horrible crimes. Henry Conwell and Ezra Danial slowly try to unearth secrets and lies. To make matters worse, the killer becomes more agitated as they get closer to finding out the truth.Wonderfully plotted, with a deft touch of humour, interesting characters and some seriously shocking plot twists, Dead Man Walking by R J Bishop is really a very enjoyable read. I loved the character of Henry and thought he was a realistic amateur investigator.This is very much a loving look at Golden Age detective fiction. I really do hope that this is not just a standalone novel – R J Bishop has done something very clever and it works very well, but I would love to see Henry Conwell and Ezra Danial return in another mystery.

I freaking love this book. It's all perfect. This book is a sure pick for anyone who wants a thriller to blow their minds. This was one of my first thrillers and I was completely enchanted by the narration . The style of writing and characters it's so lovely. The author showed the easiest language to convey this to the bookworms. I love it so much and highly recommended 😍😍It's easier to follow a Narrator and hard to create a Narration. A very cold and chilling through the spines thing! Reading through the book we can feel the author taking us through the world she felt.Some inspirations i felt, which every author will have but the uniqueness still remains in the story and writing.I would certainly recommend reading this book which I belive wont take too long to finish as i said it is chilling!!!!

Dead Man Walking is an astonishingly good crime fiction debut by R J Bishop Harper set in 1980's London. A dead body found hanging in a chapel with grotesque makeup. Henry Conwell and Ezra Danial team up to solve the crime. Soon they discover that they're finding a man with vendetta who is on killing spree. There is a mean and nasty streak running through the local community compounded by the never ending and relentless heat. Henry and Ezra are determined to find out the man behind one of the biggest crimes of the century. The author does an excellent job in bringing 1980's London alive and the disparate characters that inhabit the place. It is a closed and intense community where people hold on to grudges and feelings with such fervour, as though letting them go would result in the disintegration of the self. Dead Man Walking is a well written story with a compelling narrative. The character development is so well done. The tension and suspense keep the reader totally enthralled. Cannot wait to see what R J Bishop writes next. Highly recommended.

A great beginning, middle and end. Written from the viewpoint of the sidekick, the story carries well from the very start, with a sense of humour, character building, quick thinking and the unexpected twist at the end.A worthy read!!!
