[3/1/2024 Edit: Still holding up perfectly.] [9/6/2018 Edit: I purchased this back in May 2015, and it's still holding up perfectly. I still happily use the non-Zilla brand packs of 25w halogens with ReptiSun 5.0 mini UVB bulbs. This thing is great.] I always struggled with getting good light fixtures for my turtle, dealing with mounting them, etc. This thankfully eliminated all of that by allowing me to have one single fixture that sets right on the screen with both lamps, and it seems to work perfectly. Very convenient and seems to be more manageable for both myself and for optimizing the turtle's basking dock. I don't get the Zilla branded halogen bulbs as there are cheaper alternatives, and I would say to get 25w bulbs - anything higher seems to make the fixture get too hot even if it technically supports it. I admittedly prefer to err on the side of caution with lighting temps.

I use it for my bearded dragon, he seems to enjoy it, hasn't left that spot all day so if he's happy I'm happy. it doesn't get as hot as using a separate heating fixture but for it's small size it still does a good job. I use it with my heating pad under the tank so it keeps the cage a good temperature. It doesn't come with the bulbs so you'll have to buy them separate but fast shipping got everything at once and looks a lot better than a bunch of random fixtures above my enclosure. Would recommend.

My favorite part about this fixture is that it is compact and houses everything internally unlike other fixtures that have less aesthetically-pleasing parts sticking out the back or top. I have had it almost three months and so far it is working great. My Bearded Dragon loves to lie under this or on top of his rocks that have a heated mat underneath them. The housing does get warm to the touch. I wouldn't say it gets hot, but it definitely gets warm. I would say to just make sure it is only touching the top of your terrarium and not anything that would be adversely effected by heat. I would definitely recommend this for its great design and functionality.

I am an exotic reptile keeper/hobby breeder for going on 10 years, so I am continually testing out new products. Really liking the new line of combo/slim G9 light/heat options from Zilla. Makes my tank setups look a lot more modern and less cluttered with wires, plus these units use far less energy than standard MVB or incandescent heat bulbs. HOWEVER, there is a bit of a learning curve figuring out which bulbs will work. As stated in my review title, the mini CHE bulb that I was planning to use for nighttime heat will NOT fit in this unit. It is designed to fit only the small G9 mini halogen bulbs, and the housing is reinforced with metal—impossible to modify. On the plus side, any standard compact fluorescent reptile UVB bulb fits perfectly (I used a 10.0 13 Watt one that I had laying around from a Thrive kit in my video). I do wish Zilla would have included a starter set of bulbs with this unit—at least one mini halogen G9–to get buyers off on the right track and to test the unit right out of the box. Maybe in the future, sellers will put together a “bundle” option. Including bulbs would also make the unit a better value, IMO. Heat output is too low for my needs with a 25w day Blue mini halogen, so I am going to have to go back and order the 50w. I cannot comment on the longevity of the unit, because I just now set it up. Will update if there are any issues. My photo is of the top of my Chameleon’s screen enclosure, which has a 14” x 14” square panel. As you can see, this unit is still rather large, but regardless, offers a sleeker and much lower profile than the traditional “dome” style lamps. Hope this helps!

Thank you for this fixture! Have used Fluker brand fixture since we got our beardie. That fixture is expensive and not well made, also very large two lights. This fixture combines heat and UVB. Its light weight, all in one and low profile too. Seems well made too! Highly recommend!
