Great Performance
I bought this to use on a 24" Sony Wega set I bought 12 years ago, one which only has an analog tuner. This box replaced a Channel Master, which suffered from capacitor failure. The Channel Master delivered a good picture on the old standard-def CRT, and I was a bit apprehensive about buying this box based on the low price and the performance of the old tuner. To my surprise, the picture quality on this little RCA is better than anything the Channel Master ever gave me. This comes as a shock since TV manufacturers are not really investing much in workarounds for older sets these days; I had thought this would represent somewhat of a step backwards as a result (similar to what happened with some later model VCRs). I like this box enough that I plan on purchasing one for my other CRT set in the future. It also gives me yet another excuse to delay upgrading to a high definition set, as the picture quality is impressive enough on this to still look good.On top of the performance, this box is extremely easy to use. The menus are straightforward and navigable. Displays are simple yet effective. The included remote control works well and isn't loaded with superfluous buttons. There is both a manual and a quick start guide in the box, both of which are easy to follow. First-time setup works well--old time computer guys will refer to this as "plug and play".The box is small and compact. The only drawback is the size of the adapter plug (my old converter box had a standard two-prong plug; this one uses a bulky adapter). Despite this, I am very impressed with the C300, which seems to be a brand new design (everything is copyrighted 2016). RCA has a winner on its hands here for those who need this sort of device to keep their legacy sets going.

RCA C300 DTV Review
The unit I received had such bad signal, I was convinced it was defective. It was so bad the picture had snow and all kinds of waves going through the TV screen. The product is also very light weight and made of cheap plastic and components. The remote was also horrible and had to point it direct and close in order for it to work. I was surprised as the reason I bought it was because it was an RCA product and have had good results with that brand for many decades. In any case after sending unit back I got my Zenith DTT901 I think it is called remedied and is working great, Thank God! - There is no comparison between the two. Perhaps I received a defective unit but in any case the signal was horrible. The RCA C300 did not work in my case anyways.

Did not work for me
This converter did not work for me. I live in Los Angeles, CA and the local signals are very near my home. It took several scans before the process completed. It would freeze and I had to unplug the unit, then plug it in again and restart the scan process. I finally got a completed channel scan on the fourth attempt. One local channel was missing and the others were of no interest to me, but it was still acceptable until I turned it on this morning and discovered that all the local channels that had been stored the night before were now gone. This is the second digital to analog converter I have had to return and I'm getting discouraged. I tested both converters with two different antennas with no luck. Looks like my only option is to rent another digital adapter from my cable company.

works perfectly
I installed this product on a RCA Entertainment Series analog TV and it works perfectly. With the 50 mile range antenna i am able to pick up more than enough channels. There is an easy to follow installation and setup guide. I was up and running within 15 minutes. The picture is crystal clear too.

We purchased this box to use on our older tv. We installed this box and went through the set-up and it worked great. Left it on about 20 minutes and turned it off. Later that night we tried to turn on the box so we could view tv. It would not even come on. Tried uninstalling three times and the last time left it overnight thinking maybe it needed to reset. It would never come on again and all connections were checked and triple checked. Unfortunately we waited a while to install this after we received it and now are past the 30 day return period. We had used converter boxes on two TV's in the past so we are familiar with installation. So believe we just received a defective device. Our bad for being slow to install. Would definitely not recommend this item.

the ones that are supposed to record (PVR) are the worst, they blink in and out of the channels
I have tried several converter boxes, the ones that are supposed to record (PVR) are the worst, they blink in and out of the channels, the sound is constantly out of sync with the picture and the recording functions suck. I went back to this basic box that does a great job getting channels with no issues. I miss the very first brand I had when they ruined over the air tv by making it digital, but with that one no longer in production this RCA version is pretty good.I hope they don't stop making these.

lacks features
This keeps losing the signal which my previous Zenith model did not. Also took 3 scans to get all the channels and at first would not scan past 45% mark. Every time it loses the signal, even for an instant, this great big intrusive boxed text comes on the screen telling me the signal has been lost...and interfering with the picture. It does not have option to view the next show coming up like my Zenith did, it only has 2 picture options - full screen or cropped , every single time i turn it on, it reminds me with an annoying text box that to conserve energy it turns itself off automatically. It also is twice the thickness as my old Laconic model, so not sure why it advertises itself as small. (not sure why since it seems hollow...) oh, and the remote sometimes just refuses to work, plus has no "channel return" button. I choose this model because of the RCA brand, but I see know theyve become junk just like everyone else.

Great when it works but!
Works great but the remote is not very good and about the worst I have ever seen. It needs to be redesigned to be very functional.Update 7-4-2017I have updated my rating from 4 to 2 stars. The sound on this device keeps turning off by itself. Very annoying to say the least. It may do it one day and not the next. The only way to get the sound back on it to turn it off and back on. This has always worked to get the sound back again
