CASIO travel clock PQ-50J-8 display metallic gray Digital (Japan Import)

Nothing beats the simplicity and functionality of this alarm clock. I bought my first one in Japan a decade ago, and since then bought several more for the others in the family and myself. I've tried a number of alternatives sold in the USA, but they all are much inferior to this product. Super glad to see it available on amazon from a Japanese vendor for about the same price as in Japan. It took a couple of weeks to arrive, but it came cutely packed as appropriate for things bought in Japan.Main benefits:- Lightweight and sturdy enclosure. Other alarm clocks on the market are bulker and break down after a couple of trips in a suitcase.- Very easy to setup. The main problem with other alarm clocks is their counterintuitive controls - too many silly confusing buttons. Here everything is as straightforward as it gets.- Shows room temperature, which is nice if you stay at a hotel where thermostats are usually inaccurate. My iPhone does not display the temperature, and its alarm clock is such that in a rush you always forget if it's set or not.So if you see yourself ever needing to get up at 5 am sharp in a hotel to catch a flight then buy this product.The other reviewer does not seem to know what he's talking about since the product is obviously manufactured in China, just like an iPhone, but it's sold only in Japan.

The clock is pretty close to what I was hoping it to be. The one negative is that the alarm on/off buttons are small and not easy to turn off when you are sleepy. That could definitely be improved. Also, because it is from Japan, the only instructions that came were in Japanese so totally useless to me. It wasn't that difficult to figure out, but it could have been made much easier. But all around, a good product that I would buy again.

the clock is fine in all but one area. There is apparently no way to display the temperature in the Farenheit scale but, only inthe centigrade scale, which is not in use in the United States.

I was looking for this clock for a long time. For me, the switches are large which makes it easy to change settings and also, the display is easy for me to see.

Great they both arrived safely. Still excellent little clocks but not as sturdy as my original one and alarm setting not as simple.

I have several $5.- Chinese alarm clocks, but wanted something nicer. The Casio is hard to read because of the dark clock face, and strong reflection of the crystal. It is not hard to set up but "fidgety". It is so light that when I pressed the snooze button the clock fell over and to the ground. All in all, impractical, hard to read even at a very short distance, and too easy to drop. I went back to my $5.- clocks, and wasted $25.-.

This is the best travel clock I have seen anywhere. Unlike most of the competition it is easy to set, compact, and pleasant to listen to.
