I have used many different ones, all which work to some degree. These are hands down the most effective as they will be swarmed by flies. We live in a neighborhood and farmland is directly behind our backyard and cows roam so we have some extra fly activity. As soon as we used these, flies in the house dropped to a random one or two, whereas before we were fighting them every time we opened the back sliding door. We hang on a fence, and once it warms up—boom—thousands of flies will die in this thing. Keep adding water and extend use of trap until too full.

I have bought these for years. They work wonders on the flies in our yard in summer. Literally just fill it and forget about it. We hang ours over a plank in our fence.Recently got a puppy who has gotten larger than expected, he recently tore it off the fence all over himself and our small dog and then they ran inside the houseI have NEVER SMELLED ANYTHING THAT BAD IN ALL OF MY LIFEIt was baking in 100 degree heat for about 6 weeks and half filled with dead flies. They ran around while we all tried to catch them and put them in the bath/back outside. Everyone was dry heaving, my kids were freaking out, I puked twice, the stench was nothing you could ever imagine. It took hours to bathe the dogs in everything from tea tree soap to baking soda, to mop the whole downstairs and wipe down all the furniture.So.....great product, just keep out of reach of dogs

These fly traps are highly effective. We live out in the country and are surrounded by cattle on three sides and every summer we have a huge fly problem. Our fly problem seems to be worse since the 2015 Valley Fire burned us up. I have ordered about 10 of these traps since Sept 2015, and the traps have all filled up with flies. I add a little water to the traps whenever the water gets low.I would give the product five stars but the price is too high for what you get and the quality is questionable. One of the last traps I purchased didn't even last 24 hours before it fell apart (the attached bag fell off the top.) The bag fell into our pig pen and the pigs ate the bag (disgusting and potentially dangerous), thankfully our Old Spot pigs are still healthy. I sent an email to the seller which included a photo of the clean lid without the bag and I was ignored, but Amazon was kind enough to issue me a refund for the defective bag. I can't image what a gross stinky mess I'd have if a nearly full fly trap fell apart.

i am surrounded by farm fields and have a river less than 500 yards away so the flies are relentless. I bought this product in desperation and I could not be happier. To the point of purchasing 6 orders worth just to make sure i never run out. The amount of flies caught was insane!!!! I could not believe in about a week the fly issues were not issues anymore. This product works, I had zero issues with product, they all worked properly and could not be happier. they really stink very bad to the point you want them far away from your patio and areas you are hanging out in because they stink but they work! I would tell everyone to purchase this product if you have a fly issue because after a week there will be zero issues. As for height I used a shepards hook and they were less than 4 feet off the ground and they were amazing. Trust guys and girls this product is worth money and if you want to get rid of your fly issues this is a one stop shop!

Very effective flycatcher as long as it is somewhere you cannot smell it.Expensive for what it is but better than the competition.
