I thought it would be about the same color as ...
I thought it would be about the same color as the blush with the same name, but it was much darker.

Love the formula but hate the color
This color Slopes is described on the Sephora website as "flushed red". However, it's not red at all but brown. It's reminiscent of the brown I wore in the 90s so I'm not interested in wearing dated makeup. I'm bitterly disappointed in this color. I wanted something bolder and something red. Slopes is a medium brown shade. Who wears brown lipstick in 2016? What's the rule: if you wore the trend in the beginning, you don't wear it again when the trend comes back around. And who said brown lipstick is in vogue again? I do like the formula of Bobbi Brown lipstick. I'm one of those people who licks their lips constantly, consequently, lipstick usually doesn't last very long on me. I like Chanel, Nars and Guerlain and now Bobbi Brown. I have this lipstick in Soft Rose, which is a medium rosy shade with no blue or orange undertones. It's a "my lips but better" shade that' s a bit more intense than my natural lip color. It brightens my whole face and makes me look fresh and polished. I first use Urban Decay's Ozone clear lip pencil, which prevents feathering, then I use an Estee Lauder lip pencil in the same shade as Soft Rose. I then apply the lipstick with a brush because it's a more precise application than using it straight out of the tube. Applying lipstick this way gives me the longest lasting color. This lipstick has a satin finish rather than a shiny one and it isn't too creamy, which is why it lasts as long as it does. However, it's not the least bit drying and it doesn't migrate into the fine lines around my mouth. All in all, although I like this formula a lot, Slopes is a very dated color. It might work for the fall/winter but it's spring now and this shade is very much out of fashion. I can't believe the Sephora description was so off. This shade is not a "flushed red' at all. I've decided to return this lipstick to Sephora. My lips have become thinner as I've aged and dark lipstick just makes them look even thinner. I wanted a light neutral red to wear for the spring and summer and this shade is as far from red as green is. This color would not work for anyone with a light skin tone. However, it would be gorgeous on darker skin tones and would likely be a mlbb shade for women of color. But it certainly isn't going to work for me. Shame on you Sephora for wasting my money and my time. If you want a nice medium brown lipstick then by all means choose this one. But if you want a "flushed red", you'll have to look elsewhere. The formula is great but this color absolutely sucks!
